Wolves. on the endangered list again.

They need to put them in Central Park NY, wolves were there at one time.....homeless people.....taste like chicken :beer;;). My question is why did they introduce a more aggresive Canadian wolves that killed off all our native wolves (that they said were not there???) Funny thing is I seen wolves back in the late eighties in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone Park.

This pizzes me off every time I think about it, back east city folk delegating to the people of the West.................WTF:mad:

It's really quite simple.
Everyone wants to feel good about themselves.
They want to feel they are making a positive difference.
The enviro's and animal rights groups do just that.
They show a wolf just sitting there looking like your average house pet.
It gives people a warm fuzzy to think they are doing the right thing. The fact they have no clue what that "Thing" is, has no bearing on the subject.

This is where the news media is supposed to expose the truth. Unfortunetly, this as with pretty much any liberal idea or approach is not the case. Most of the news orgs are owned by people that pour millions into the enviro causes. If you boss doesn't like something, you don't go against him/her or they won't be your boss very long.

Until we can educate the masses, nothing will change.
As long as the enviro's continue to pander to the "good feelings" crowd, nothing will change.

The enviro's took in huge amounts of cash, to support forcing wolf reintroduction. Now they are taking in huge amounts of cash to support and fight to keep people from shooting the wolves. It's all about the money. They have a crisis, and someone will write a check, no crisis, no check.

From what I,m reading here, and what I read on other threads and forums regarding this issue, and the decining numbers of Elk in Id, Mt, and Wy. Thank god they aren't yet into the range of my hunting areas. As a hunter it bothers the hell out of me. How long before the mountain ungulate numbers get so low because of these wolves that the animal huggers REALLY get thier way and the Elk (and more) become listed as endangered?? Now That pisses me off!!!!

Exactly DooDawg, if predator/prey ever became truly "naturally balanced", you wouldn't be allowed to hunt. Your not natural, you have technology. I can only see this resulting in a reduction in tags sold, the price going up, and hunting of big game becoming ever more, a rich person's sport. Endgame: greenies win.

Now, unlike you, I don't hunt anymore, and I like having critters around, including wolves. I'm sure that wolves serve some beneficial purpose, ie. strengthening the herd. But, I don't like the fact that the greenies are causing the extinction of the original native wolves. (A loss of biological diversity) And, the hidden agenda pizzes me off.

"strengthening the herd."

The herds of today have SOOOO much more to deal with in the loss of range lands, human development resulting in winter range losses, reduced food sources, disease's imported from domestic animals, noxious weeds, etc, etc......that for them to exist has been a strengthening factor within itself. With this wolf introduction you are really just puting the nail in the coffin , AND by restricting means to manage those wolves, you just removed the claw hammer from our hands and threw the first shovel of dirt on that coffin to bury it.

You would be hard pressed to convince me or many others that there is a need for the wolf .....let alone a "beneficial purpose".

I'm sure I'll get flamed, but...........Not going to flame... just point out a minor detail that can't be overlooked.

We should get rid off all the wild life, mnt lions, cougars, deer, elk, bob cats, hell, even squirels....... I am completely appalled at how close minded some of the comments are regarding wolf reinterduction..... They were here long berfore man and we wiped them away.... Is there a problem with wolves and ranching, yes.... Can it be solved, probably..... Um, this is the only problem I have with what you said......The Canadian Grey wolf that was introduced to the northern rockies, is not a native species nor has it ever been a native species in this area. You are thinking of the Timber wolf that has been decimated by the Grey wolf

For a natural environment, it takes an equal amount of predators to prey... Look at how the deer and elk population spiked because there were not enough predators to maintain the popluations.....

I believe we need to manage the wolf populations, but I do not believe that as soon as they are off endangered list that you should be able to go kill them as you freely want.... Have a hunting season for them, just like the rest of the wild life.

BTW - The envor's do suck:D:beer;

the grey wolf is much more agresive than the timber wolf and is 30% larger... they estimate a full grown wolf will kill 3 elk per month not counting the sport kills that are a documented fact.

"Of course, Sadler would like these wolves trapped, and shipped out of the area."

That way they will become someone elses problem.

The real story to this is the F&G won't admit to the public how many of these POS are out there. Last week they held a meeting in Ashton, to tell what they think will be a "wolf hunting season". According to them, there are only 17 wolves in Units 60 to 67 including the A units. That's a crock of sh!t. And the Allowable quota is 6 per yr for all the upper snake region. This quota includes--- road kill, rancher kills, private property kills, etc. There won't even be a "real" season for tagged kills. This tells me that F&G are after even more of our money, as in more tag sales and still no "real" season to legaly tag these things.

If anyone wants a copy of the garbage the F&G handed out with the rules and proposed info, pm me and I will send you what was handed to us.

Nate, I may "Hire you as my Hitman" if things around here don't change.:beer;

from trapping them here..I can tell you that the alpha male will mate every female in the pack if they have a good food supply..figure 6-12wolves.JPG puppies every spring...normal pack size runs 6-10 wolves..we have several packs in my area that number over 30 in a pack..it is amazing how much they eat and kill for fun....

It's not just a western state problem. They pulled the same crap in MN too. Now in all their infinate wisdom the idiots have introduced cougar's (mountain lions) into the area around my home hunting area. They denied it for years until the popularity of Game cameras turned up too much evidence. I actually saw one with my own eyes while cutting hay. It came out into the field and walked straight into the cattle pasture not too long after found what was left of it's lunch in the form of a mutelated calf carcus. Cougars are not and never have been native to MN yet these idiots feel the need to introduce them.

The Geenie master plan is to introduce the predatory animals until they grow to a population to deminish the game animals numbers to the same endangered list to outlaw hunting period.

The latest is the Polar bear who's numbers are 4 times that of the 40's and 50's now all of a sudden they are endangered due to "loss of arctic ice pack and global warming"

They are getting more and more brazen about using the list as a tool to further their agenda. Just like CO2 being listed as a polutant. The air you and I and they exhale and their beloved trees use for photsynthesis is all of a sudden a polutant? Simple fact is that they view all of mankind as a virus to the earth and won't be happy until we are on the endangered species list too.

Just curios AK, what is your states hunting quota or tag limit up there?

on a hunting license it is 10 wolves a season..on trapping permit...no limit..get em all if ya can..is tough to do..have run into a pack a few times...things happen fast....lol one thing our F&g does is try to collar all alphas..so if ya see a colar..more then likely..alpha.....I've gotten 4 alphas..3 male & 1 female with a gun off my sled..if you have never seen a wolf up close..is very impressive...my biggest male is 8ft-8 inches tip of nose to tip of tail..stood 37 inches at the shoulder...weighed 127 pds....

VERY WELL stated XC!!! I like your point of view.

But...... We can at least try to make a stand and protect our rights. Even if we loose to the greenies, ( and our BOUGHT out Govn't).

Agreed not going down without a fight. The biggest problem we have is people that are uninformed and vote blindly for the people that would ultimately go against everything that we believe in because of issues like gay marrage, abortion, and big oil bashing that none of the candidates will ever do anything substantial to fix.

They love their feel good causes like homelessness and such when the real fact of the matter is all these special interests bring them money. They don't want to fix a problem thus cutting off the special interest money. They are more into tossing out token handouts that look good to keep their support. The biggest problem is now that all the greenies are the ones getting the tokens and they are starting to add up.
