Wolf Hunting Idaho

Hello guys,
I was thinking of purchasing a tag to hunt wolf's up there in Idaho and was curious as to where a good place would be to go hunting. I know those sons of *****es have a lot of people scared/pissed off, so I would like to help thin out the population. I would prefer hunting the southern half of the state. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys, Bodey

Is the sawtooth region mostly wilderness and have to go camping. Or are there towns near by that I could get a motel room? Any specific location of the sawtooths?

stanley would probly be the best bet for a place near the sawtooths. alot of people are seeing them by sun valley too. hopefully the liberals dont shut it down

Salmon wouldn't be a bad town to start out in ;) also there have been a rise of sightings in the Moody area ( east of Rexburg) and n of ashton ( south Island Park)

Just be careful on the seasons. Not all units are open right now (see - http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/hunt/wolf/quota.cfm). The Sawtooth area would be the closest to you. Stanley or Lowman area would make the best base camp. Most of the wilderness areas nearby are in other zones or is treeless enough that not many wolves will be hiding there. Most of the wolves will be Challis-Salmon and Boise National Forests.

Somebody nailed # one today up north. 1 down about four thousand to go! We see them all of the time in our two "hunting" spots...unless you have unlimited time and energy the quota will never be filled by hunters. But this does give the rancher and his friends a shot and running them back into the deep woods and off of your home place where your kids play. Brutal...we've given up on our elk and deer herds and now simply defending our existance! I don't want to live on soy do you? Hmm how yummy I'll have a delicious beer and vegie burger. just puked a little...grrrrrrrrrrrrr

you cant have none ima goin kil em all!!

but seriously there all over the place in the sawtooths. mackay, stanley, challis, sun valley would all make great base camps. there has also been some sightings near the ID wyoming border.

sounds like a nice calf call and a blowup elk is in order! so who's going to be the first guy to take one with a bow?

Talked to a couple of guys that were up on the Boise ridge yesterday. They said there are two packs up there. One guy shot one but it took off down the front side into the brush just before dark. They are headed back up this morning.

Hopefully the quotas aren't met in the first couple weeks. I won't be able to make it up that way until probably the first or second week in October. Are there any good places in Idaho that celebrates Octoberfest? Maybe I'll get good and drunk and then tell all the tree-huggers what I'm really up there for.

We if your from Mt. Pleasant It should only take you a few :beer;:beer; to get the job done!!

I think you are safe on the 220...third reported this afternoon. Get this they just announced the federal trapper bounty kill and livestock protective authorization on the two trouble juvies over in Keating, Oregon. People this is historical!

Dreaming a little now. I could in theory actually take one Idaho tagged and participate in the depredation of two more this very weekend! Wouldn't that be something? Starting tomorrow there won't be a pickup or tractor in all of Keating without a high power rifle on board. FINALLY

hey Wade,
On the bright side at least there aren't any deer left to eat your shrubs or get run over on warm springs avenue anymore.
