Wolf Creek info?

A reminder for anybody riding down South, you had better know where the wilderness boundaries are. We got stopped by the forest service and accused of riding in the wilderness, when we weren't. Even when we told them where the marker was, they weren't convinced. Then he admitted that even he didn't know exactly after claiming "This is my forest". Talk about losing respect for somebody, it's hard enough to respect some folks in law enforcement. This really rubbed me the wrong way.

My bets are that he knew exactly where they were, but had to put on a show for his buddies that were visiting from the BLM and the other district. Otherwise, we would have gotten busted. The visiting ranger knew and told you where it was, and the local guy didn't? Not really sure why they have to act like that. Harassed for being legal......

Id like to know if there is any group of local riders that routinely rides at wolf creek. I live about 45 miles from there and am trying to figure out what to do for my first sled. Todd at Pagosa Powersports was super friendly and if he can talk me into a sled I'll be riding this area frequently. thanks.

The latest update on the Sled City web site shows most trails are "not groomed, no snow" with only 3-4" in the last 48 hours. Doesn't sound like they got much snow if you can believe Sled City.

Top of the pass is not that big and can get boring and tracked out pretty quickly. Ride Tucker ponds up to Elwood pass. Its even easier if you go in from the Summitville side but definitely but a good forest service map. Jump around and explore you'll find good riding all over up there. All the riding is a ways from lodging and there are no trails up from down low right now, not enough snow.
A video of a couple weeks ago, http://youtu.be/AqU7WJnN0wg. It was DEEP!! Haven’t been up since then but it should have set up nicely and covered most the stumps and rocks.

Also snotel site link for the top of the pass http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/nwcc/sntl-datarpt.jsp?site=874&days=7&state=co it gets deeper the farther you get back in tucker.

At the summit. Only place on the pass for a rig like that. But please park so others can to. Just saying I've seen some nonsense in that lot on weekends.

Kinda like some old dude with a red and white 5th wheel who parks against the snow bank and then rags on other riders who pull next to him because they are blocking the view to his phone number on the side of the trailer?

And thanks for showing us around Saturday. Hope you get the Poo fixed soon.
