Wolf Creek Help

Talked with some guys who ripped apart a couple of sleds outs there this week. Same story.....no base, lots of landmines. Like to see 200" for the year before you can feel comfortable about not finding the hidden rock surprise's.

Thinking about maybe heading down to Crested Butte.......seems that may have a little better base

Who is going up today? I'm leaving Longmont in for there in an hour.
Where is everyone staying tonight?

hit the TP TH and go up the road to the top of the mesa, i dont have the map in front of me but i think it is wolf mtn?? nice high 10500 flat play area with a port o potty and all.

hit this from the sf side. get yourself a map and you will see what i mean.

dont go up to the top of the pass as tempting as that might be, its all hammer heads and there really is not alot to choose from up there.

You just dont know how to get back in there:D There is alot of good riding there because people(like you J/K) dont know how to get to the spots

In the past i have gotten into some real good riding on slumgolian pass between lake city and creede but havnt made it there this year every time that the snow has been slim at wolf creek we have had good luck there!

Well, we drove, drove some more...and finally rode:)

Thanks to everyone who was accomodating and shared information with us!!!

You ever seen some many putty cats stuck before???? Can I mention that I was the first one to lay tracks back here with my 600 RMK????

shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! You guys escape damage free? All the snow is sure nice, but I saw a LOT of broken sleds and one broken person. We had to pull that poor guy up the hill to the trail with straps and a lot of manpower. Had to tug his sled up the hill also. Only thing attaching the right ski to the sled was one steering rod. And how bout the semi that was upside down in the creek Saturday afternoon! Heard he was hauling a load of cattle and there were a few still loose this morning.

We saw you guy's sat. stuck at one of the gates up there, today we couldn't see 10 feet in front of us. There was a guy looking for those cattle today.:D

Ya, think you were riding with Ski-Breeze maybe?

That little gate thing had us all messed up:)

Heard they got another 14" on Saturday night and about that same amount yesterday...can anyone confirm??? With that much new it could get insane up there in a hurry!!!!!

YES, everyone in our group escaped completely damage free:) So, all in all a very successful first ride for all of us:)

good first weekend of riding.

NO base...

No reason to pull out cam or vid cause the light was super flat most of the weekend. Plus with the deep snow and zero base it was mostly cruising

Saw every bodies carnage but our group managed to escape! HOpe the guy from WY with the broken leg and broken sled got everything taken care of. Couple guys from our group went back to help lug the sled up but they had already dragged it up.

Saw a couple other sleds that took some hard hits, plus plenty of tracks that had uncovered rocks. It takes at least 200" for the year before that place is safely rideable.

Saw the cattle big rig tipped over into the river...cattle roaming eveywhere!! They were still looking for missing cattle late sunday afternoon

:beer;

Dizz, thanks for stoppin to help bring the sled up!! j/k pretty hard to know anything was going on without looking over the edge. The guy was really worried someone was gonna help themselves with parts from his sled so we figured we'd do what we could to get it back. If I was in that situation, I'd want all the help I could get too!

Hey we stopped..you guys gave us the impression you had everything under control. I would have just rode the sled up ;)

We passed the guy bringing the come-alongs in and minutes later the sled came limping into the parking lot. You guys must have lugged it up manually before he got there?

Need to go on a midweek ride and see if we can round up in free beef this week! They were up PC looking for a few that got away. Not very often a guy walks up to you in the middle of the mountain during winter and says "you guys seen any cattle?

Was that you Dizz, In red klim and a doo.

No....we pulled up a few minutes after the guy with the bad leg left. I was on the black/grey doo in black Klim. We stopped and asked a few questions, didn't know anybody was hurt just that the sled was stuffed into that tree.

Somebody on a Cat came up from the bottom while we were there and got a little pissy about us being stopped where we were? Thats about when we rolled out.

Yeah we pulled the sled up by hand then I limped it back to the lot. Didn't handle anything like my hcr! Would've been easy to ride it up if the ski was attached by a lil more than a chincy steering rod. Not sure what the guy was thinking when he went up that hill.... pretty sure he saw your sleds there. Heard the truck driver crapped his pants, not saying that I wouldn't in the same situation!

I am the one who followed you down when you were on the busted sled. Dizzle would have rolled the rest of the way down the hill then rode it back up, You dont need front skis to climb a hill :D
