Winshields for RMK

After weeks of reading and getting good answers here I am 99% sure I am going to snow check a 163 RMK.

I was thinking of going with the low windshield with the hand guards.

From the videos I have seen it seems like the sled does a good job of not sending a ton of snow over the hood.

What do you guys think?

I am coming from a Nytro and am used to little to no wind protection. I did notice that the hand guards did help though.

After breaking the "ears" off of the windshields on my last two sleds the decision on the windshield for my Pro was an easy one. The low windshield and handgaurds means no more broken windshields for me.

Definitely the low windshield, less there to get caught, crack and just plain break.

hmm

I once had windshield issues myself... Took the windshield off altogether, put some handguards on....

In the end, it seemed like I just traded winshield issues for handguard issues.......

I have had problems with my Polaris handgaurds on my Dragon. Whenever I roll my sled to get unstuck or get a little too close to some tree branches they like to rotate loose. When I got them they only had the mounts with the single hole in them. Now the mounts have 2 holes in them to mount to the handgaurd. One more little thing that I am looking forward to on the Pro. Now I won't have to carry an allen wrench with me in my coat pocket every ride. These better mounts will the only handgaurd problem I have had at least for me.

i'd say run the stock windshield and see how you like it. it's not like its a hard job to change down the road.

Why do my handguards not come up above the bar to the top of the guards? I'm using Polaris mounts and guards on the Pro Tapers. Also they hit the stock windshield. I didn't want to go with the low shield because it seemed like it kinda defeated the purpose. Any info??

My ProR800 is coming with the black short shield. I will be looking for someone with a new black mid (RMK?) shield to trade. I won't know for sure until it gets here and what the dealer can/can't come up with.

When I got my sled it came with hand gaurds and low windshield. I took them both off because they will just break off when you roll the sled over to get un stuck on a hill. IMO

I would be willing to trade. Don't know where you are in Iowa but the 2011 Pro I just bought in lake mills has the mid black shield and I will be buying a shorty! I would love to trade.
Thanks

I ran three windshields last year. A stock one that I trimmed so hand gaurds wouldn't touch, a Peak windshield from SnoStuff I believe, and the short Polaris shield. Removed hand gaurds and picked up the Skinz flexible ones. Gonna see if they work and protect my hands from trees atleast a little bit. The old rigid mount gaurds had tree marks all over them. We shall see what happens.

I saw a guy almost get killed last year from a high windshield! Sled rolled over on top of him and the windshield has pushing on his jugular, He was blue and needed to be revived all with in 3 minutes it took for us to get to him on the hill. Something to think about! Personally I have no windshield on my pro, Had a short one at first, but liked how it looked with out one at all.

Low chrome windshield and Polaris handgaurds. No problems really. I like to roll my sled over without worrying about the windshield.

Anybody try to use the windshield/dash mount bag with the low windshield? I have ordered both and will try when my sled comes in. I expect the bag will stick up above the shield, but that doesn't bother me.
