wildblue vs hughes net satelite isp

I am looking at getting away from dial up at the house. And was looking at wildblue or hughes net for a satelite isp. I don't have access to dsl or cable or anything like that. There seems to be a lot of wildblue accounts here in north idaho.

Is there any difference between the 2? They both are basically the same price for the same speed.

What would you folks recommend?

thanks
tim

Wildblue has the absulute worst costomer service I have EVER talked to, I am buying out of my deal tonight:mad:very poor service:mad: run forest run:mad:

I had Wild Blue for 2 years, then I built a new house and now have Hughes. I would go back to Wild Blue, the Hughes is costing me 70.00 a month, where the Wild Blue was 50.00, and the speed doesn't seem any different to me. I think the customer service issue has to do with whether or not you have a decent service rep in the area, we have a guy right in town that does both systems, and he is good to work with.

Don't use satellite!

There are 2 local internet providers that offer wireless service. They have towers located in several places around the area. As long as you can see their towers from your roof you will be able to get service. Call Intermax (208-762-8085) and JR's Electronics. Great service from both companies. Avoid using Spokane Skynet. They offer the same type of service, but customer service is non-existent. If you decide to use Intermax, use me for a referral. We will both get a free month of service. PM sent.

I have HughsNet and it has worked flawlessly. It used to be Directway and that sucked but HughsNet is perfect. It is about $69 a month but well worth it as in the country here we do not have access to a DSL line and dial up really sucks.
