Wight difference between the M1000 and M1100

I got the quote below from another thread and I didn't want to hijack the thread so I started a new one. I have an 09 M1000 with all the SLP goodies and if this is correct I should be at around 482# and 193HP (I know I loose a lot of HP at elevation.)

What does the M1100T weigh with minor mods compared to the M1000?

A couple months ago I was dead set on getting a in the crate 2013 M1100T but the guys I ride with talked me out of it. They ride 800 Pro's and told me the M1100T was way to heavy and they wouldn't help me if I get stuck and that I would hate the M1100. I am a bigger guy around 250# but I am pretty fit. I love my 09 M1000 its a great sled, I can throw it around pretty easy and can put it anywhere the 800's can go plus some they can't. I would like to get a newer sled but really think if I get an 800 because of my size I would miss the torque of the 1000. My M1000 runs great so I am having a hard time deciding if I should run it another year and wait to see what Cat does next year or get a M1100T and put the 215 flash on it.

07 m1000-162 weighed 530lbs dry-162Hp
08 m1000- lost 8 lbs off the skid-162Hp
09 m1000- lost 22 lbs with electronic reverse-162 HP, tunnel mod ,and Power Claw. added
M1000 with a SLP- pipe set- 193 HP about 18 lbs lighter than stock.

I have a 1100T

Given your situation, and what you say about your 1000, I would absolutley ride the 1000 for another year...........

Good luck on deciding your a big guy. I had a 1000 loved it had the 1100 like it but it sure wore me out. You need to decide what type a riding you do most and who you ride with. You can ride trees with the 1100 but plan to be breathing hard. I'm back to a 8 trying to decide what direction to take. Sure lighter weight but I will miss the big bore torque and turbo track speed. Until I decide on a blower!! Anyhow the 1100 feels and is heavy you will need throttle control to make it feel light. In deep powder its not as noticeable.

Get the 800, add about 8-10 lbs. and then you won't miss the torque. (8-10 lbs. boost.:face-icon-small-blu:face-icon-small-coo

I agree with Buz-
I had a 07 M1000 and a 2009 M1000- ( wish Cat still made them)
I went to a M8 in 2012 with the new Pro chassis.. I absoutly hated the sled due to the lack of power I was now faced with not having..
The torque of the 1000 was deeply missed- and my riding bud's on their m1000 .I was just left behind.
So I dumped the 2012 M8 and went to the 2013 M1100T- back happy again..and yepper in the tight stuff she will get you breathing hard but most do in the tight trees.- I'll take the breathing to what this sled has to offer in every other condition.

I am also a bigger guy too- 220 and fit- and from what I went backward on- the 800 is just to weak for me-
I don't want to have the fuel controller and gadgets- gauges your messing with when you turbo the 800..and your still more $$$ than a M1100T with a 215 flash.
2016 will be a intresting year for the Turbo sled from Cat- I think we will still see the 1100 4S for 2015

i am 185LBS and i love the 1100t
it is heavier, but at your size and if you are in shape,,,, i think you will like it... if you put the 215 reflash (i have same) you will be amazed at the power, on pump gas too!
i had a 2s turbo, it doesnt compare IMO
maybe the new kits have better bottom end but mine was not close to the 1100t torque and overall power, and i ran straight 100ll, 1100t is on 91.....

as far as tree riding,,,, what kind of tree riding, lots of guys on here say tree riding, but what density of trees do they mean????

i ride the trees!!!!

the 1100t is big and heavy but the torque of the 4s motor is awesome.

suprisingly nimble too.

i personally think the 1100t is the perfect sled for a guy that is in great shape, is over 215lbs, and a aggressive rider.
you will be worked, and tired at the end of the day, but i am no more tired than when i was riding my m8.. and the fun factor is incredible.

with all that said, i have stepped up my exercise routine, more lifting and gaining a little more mass in my upper body to help with the weight of the big girl..... but it is worth it. cant wait to throw it around this year.....

Re: 1100T vs. M1000...

I own a 2013 M1100T, previously owned an M1000 that was modded, but naturally aspirated. I love the 1100T in its present state (Evo Big Chute Turbo, and a few other goodies). Will it take some effort in the trees? Yes, significantly more then an 800, and a bit more then the 1000. For the record, I also own a 2013 M800 S/P Ltd as well, but it doesn't get out of the trailer much. Once you have ridden the torque of a well tuned 4S turbo, it is very hard to step backward to an 800, at least in my case. I weigh 220 lbs in my shorts, and am in good physical condition for my age (have worked on drilling rigs for the past 20 years). The 1100T will ride lighter then an Apex or Nytro when on the throttle, but will never be as nimble as a 2 stroke, with the exception of the old Thundercats or other big triples of years past. It's a heavy beast when stuck, but all sleds are when planted.
I guess what I'm saying is it isn't the sled for everyone, but it works for me, and I don't see myself riding anything else in the near future... good luck with your decision.

i just keep thinking of the torque
it puts a smile on my face

you need to ride one with the 215 flash, incredible....

i cant imagine the ones with the big chute kits on them. crazy!!!!

I have both.
last year I didn't ride the M1000 at all, actually thinking of selling it.
I am 6'4" 250lbs and enjoy the M1100T - I can throw it around just fine and it is a blast to ride.
Although it is heavier than the M1000 is doesn't get stuck like the 2 stroker, it is an absolute animal.
If there are deep powder conditions the T is as flickable as the 1K if not better.
This year I'll probably ride the 1K early in the year and when the snow gets steep & deep, out comes the 11T.

Decisions decisions

I think everyone here is missing the most simple piece of advice. Ride you're 1000 until you run into a guy with a m1100 willing to let you take it for a spin. You will either love it or hate it. The chassis and ride ability o the pro climb chassis is hands down better except in a few small areas the 1100 seems to have been designed specifically for bigger guys the most common reaction I get from guys my size who ride mine is they say it just seems to fit. I'm 6'3 275 I personally wouldn't own a different sled.

How does the 1100t stock compare to a piped m1000. I would think that they are very close power wise but I have never rode one. That is all I am waiting for is to see one out that I can ride.

I am in the same boat... 225 in shape, a little older than last year.
I have a tiring 2007 m8 162 (great sled)and trying to decide whether M8000/RMK Pro 800 or the much more expensive M9000 limited.
I cannot find the actual weight of the turbo sled anywhere.
I ride the trees, powder when we have it, trails the rest of the time. I am looking for a strong dependable sled!
My buddy has M1000 and I lie the power and do not mind the weight.
I did the old 1000cc Mod thundercat years ago but the torque and power band of the old triple was a bit much to enjoy.
I really want to jump but want to make sure jump the right way.

I'm 170lb, 5'11", and in the gym 3-4 days a week. I ride at 10k-12k in elevation so I still get tired no matter what I ride. I love my 2013 1100! I love changing the oil once a season and just turning a key and you're good to go. Very reliable. Don't even have the 215 reflash yet but will next week.

If you like the power/torque of the M1000, get the 1100 and don't look back. Just give yourself 250 miles to get used to the power and handling. The price difference will make up for itself in the long run.

I came off an M1000 with mods and my M1100 is a far more enjoyable sled. We ride in the mountains and trees and I don't do anything I wouldn't do on the 1000. In fact I do more because it can do more. Love not having to turn out and really love the extra power when I need it. When transitioning from one area to another the steering along is far easier when not on boost. Yes, it is heavier than most, but I don't get stuck anywhere near as much with. Two years on it, zero problems other than changing out to better hose clamps. If you want light, not the sled for you. Go with an 8 and put a turbo on it. Good luck

Fill your M1000 up with gas and oil. Bring it to me and we will weigh it side by side with a wet ready ride 1100T. Then Ill take you for a demo ride. Then decide for yourself.

The ya go Ride_the_Rockies
A offer you should take advantage of- These guy's will treat you right and offering this most generious gesture your decision can be made logically..

I will have to take you up on that. I live about an hour south of your store. You PM'ed me some prices on some 13's. I was going to come up to your store but after talking to my riding partners on 800's I started to have second thoughts. Do you sill have your demo sled for sale?

I went from a 09 M1000 with mods running close to 195hp at the bottom of the hill and switched to the 1100T with flash and pipe and 3" track and it is amazing. I am 6'1" and 265 and this sled is a tank when stuck, but the extra power and track makes it hard to get it stuck. The proclimb chassis makes this sled flickable and the torque puts the 1000 to shame. After a day of riding my buddies said they could not believe how much more I rode the sled instead of catching my breath all the time with the 1000.:face-icon-small-ton

I also have M800 SnowPro and it is fun too, but it only leaves the trailer on the last day of riding to give this old guy a break!!

Good luck with your decision.

you guys are comparing apple to bananas, the OP did not include the T on the 1100. so put the T on the m1000 and the 1100. boost to boost or NA to NA.
