Wife has a question on body armor!

Hello All,

My wife would like me to ask the the female riders of Snowest what chest protectors they choose and like. We have looked at the KLIM, but know there are a lot of options out there!

Thanks for your input!

Klim worked for me today. Hard hit to the bars and I didn't feel a thing. Just had a lot of snow up my coat after my chest hit the bars with a hand stand dismount flopping in the snow. :face-icon-small-con Darn ditches in flat light! :face-icon-small-dis

I am also a firm believer of the Tek Vest/Klim chest protector. There is a way that they suggest us females roll the plastic to get it to fit better in the chest area if need be.

Not to hijack the thread, and I'm not a girl... but you might find this funny.

I sorta did one of those last weekend.... hit a rock (or maybe part of the mountain) descending a steep one; stopped me instantly. But the part that followed is actually kinda entertaining..... as I flew over the bars the waist strap on my Snowpulse pack somehow caught my bars and I was left hanging there till I managed to get myself untangled! I didn't find it too funny at the time, but I can laugh now. Too bad no one got a pic of it :face-icon-small-dis

Thanks all... That's the tread I remember seeing a while back. Looked but did not find!

Pics would have been great!!! My hub was wishing he had my stunt on his helmet cam that I forgot to pack. :face-icon-small-blu

Glad you didn't get hurt.

Okay back on topic.

Do you any of you ladies run the Tekvest with an avy-pack? I am concerned about the shoulder pads. Also looking at the Alpinestars flackjacket. Pads are removable.

Thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy

Both my Mom and son run their tekvests with the avy packs and have no issues. When I don't have one of my kids behind me in the child riding belt I too have worn my tekvest with a backpack.

Take care

Jan

I have the Rockgarden Lady Flak Jacket and have wore it for dirt and snow. It fits fine with my HMK pack. I honestly just changed to the tek vest this year because of the back protection feeling to bulky. I didn't notice it while I rode but mostly after the ride my back would hurt. To much on my back IMO. And it's the worst when you fall off on your back and can't get up. Looking like a turtle stuck on her back sucks!! I wore it for two years though and the protection is great and the kidney belt is also a great feature you don't get witth any tek vest.

Abby runs a fox woman's roost guard with an avy pack & is very happy with it. She also has a 661 & rockgardn suits & prefers the roost guard.

Thanks.

I have the roost guard already. It's not comfortable at all under my jacket... Even after I took out the shoulder pads. Tough to find the right shape for women. I guess if you wear enough gear underneath it would be OK, but I like my padding fitted, and close to my body.

I like the way the Alpinestars jacket has shaped chest pads, although the breastplate might be a little exposed. Have tried the 661 roost guard too... I think I would like a little more protection, it's pretty soft.

I wear a TekVest, and to be honest I won't ride without it anymore. The TekVest makes what would otherwise be painful sort of academic- I can SEE myself hitting the bars but I don't feel anything. I ride with a Tekvest summer and winter (ATVs and snowmobiles).

I also like that the Tekvest makes me not even notice my backpack. I don't feel the shoulder straps at all.
