Why Would....?

I have been playing with my jetting and I think I have found the proper Main for my 04 600 but only one of the cylinders is showing ideal and the other still very rich. Why would my two cylinders be different?

I believe the stator side of the piston will run about 1 jet size up or down I'm not sure. I think the stator side run's hotter. Which would explain your finding's. I'm no mechinc.

But this is so bad that the machine begins to bog after some time running it. Seems to run fine for a minute or two.. Maybe the floats needle a seat are leaking on that side, causing a rich condition?

What mains and elevation and are you in ?Powder or hard pack ? We have had a couple of machines get sag in the belly pan by the muffler and so when in powder it start sucking in exhaust fumes and acts all rich and crappy but runs good on hardpack . So we have put in a 90 degree 2" x 2" piece of plastic all the way across the bottom of belly pan ( fastened to plastic from front of tunnel ) Then extended our exhaust pipe 1/2 inch to get the exhaust out a little more . Prob solved so if its doing it in deep powder this could be it

what are the mains you are toying with? and what elevation?

With old Jaws pipes 350 mains.. With New quiet pipe started with 400 and worked my way down to 320 where I really started to see the primary drive side getting lean and the clutch side staying very rich.. 350 should be good if I can get both running the same.

I have tried 400 through 320 at 500-3000 ft. 320 started showing lean on one side and still vey rich on the clutch side, I think 350 will work if I get them burnin the same.

I have been testing in a felid in front of my house, where its been powdery, slushy and now has some tracks in it. Is this problem you speak of with the Jaws pipe models or the quiet pipe models.. They have different cans at the end of the system.

Were you actually fouling plugs because of this?

can you send me a pic of you solution?
Thanks

I just took a look at my pipe and it seems to be pointing straight down at the belly pan where the for the original pipe points back at the track.. Is this normal? SHould I cut a hole in the belly pan so the exhaust can escape?

I believe that is normal for the quite pipes to point down , do you have a hole in the back from the jaws pipe ? If so you might want to get a piece of plastic (old truck bedliner works great) and block the extra hole . I'll get a pic for ya soon as i can and get it on here

Yes I have a hole in the back but not one on the bottom so when Im in heavy powder the belly pan bottoms out on the exhaust and causes the engine to bog. Does your have a hole on the bottom? Do I cut a new hole?

bingo

you need to cut a hole in the belly pan man. if your pipe dont stick out the bottom get a short piece of exhaust pipe and weld on so it sticks out the bottom a little and cut at a slant. long in front.

Thanks J&L, I know it was stupid question.:) I just didnt expect I would have to do this and I have been troubleshooting my jetting with the exhaust unable to breath. LOL what a fool I am.. Wow my hawk should run great now that it can breath..

Hawkdoggen you rock, Thanks for suggesting the exhaust..

I have cut the whole in the belly pan and welded a small stainless extension on the exhaust. Now the thing runs! Wow Who ever said the new quiet pipe is "bolt on" is mistaken.

Solution!

The new pipe points down and the old to the back. In powder the belly pan was stopping exhaust from escaping. So I cut a whole and extended the pipe one inch and now it rocks with 15 pilot and 400 Main..

All in all the quiet pipe is well worth the investment. It seems to have better power and its jetting is much better with the 15 pilot.
