Why was the WHC thread closed?

Just my thoughts

I thought it was turning into a bash festival on a paid member. And I asked some of the original questions and was starting to wish I hadn't. I was also thinking about asking admin to close it lastnight but didn't. My thought is now that they ponied up and joined as members. Go up and talk to them face to face. Best way to tell what someone is thinking. Give them a chance, I am going to. And then go from there.

I agree about the bashing. No need for that im sure they run a nice lodge, and are nice people.
But as a person, you choose who you are affiliated with. And you shouldn't play both sides of the game just to profit from it.

I personally won't have the money I spend going into the hands of someone that may choose to spend it on helping organizations that try to close down riding areas, add to the all ready vast wilderness and are pro wolf.

I'm not telling them to change or bashing that they think and believe they way they do.

This is a website for snowmobiling and as far as I can tell, the administrators and moderators on here aren't for supporting the closing of riding areas and adding to wilderness areas.

I don't think if the Sierra club decided they too wanted to be a paying member of snowest, that they would just be accepted with a smile.

I agree, no need to bash them but I wanted to know what the scoop was. I will still go up there for lunch since I like riding in the area. Probably not going to be planning any weekend adventures until after I see what the new managers are like. I don't want to go up there and stay the night if I can't BS with the staff.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with wanting to know the people managing the lodge, when they advertise that you will feel at home and be part of the family when you stay there.

On Edit : My next question to the new managers was going to be about their stance on snowmobiles in Yellowstone given their history around the park. I think that's a more than fair question to ask of someone advertising as a snowmobile destination.

Lodge

I will also check it out. The thing that has my mind going is where did all of this originate. I mean it seams that there is a bit of truth to it? I would think that either they were not aware of how conservative some riders are and shared their views, then made an attempt to side step questions, or someone had it out for them and made it up and just got lucky? Seems like a long shot but stranger things have happened. Either way a person should have a right to know where their money is going. On the other hand I believe in people and I believe in my way of life. They said they WERE affiliated with the group and no longer are as they felt extremist are never a good thing. While I can not agree with that statement as if I did that would suggest that America would have never been and I would have a British accent and that would just suck. What it does show me is these people are at least able to look at their past and possibly see that they needed to make some changes?? Perhaps our job is to show them that mountains and snowmobiles can co-exist in harmony and balance. That all the dirty things that liberals say about us are propaganda and our views are exploited to the max in order to foster their beliefs. Hell I have many times found myself a fan of Sen. Paul. Bottom line I am willing to try the place out see what I think. If I feel like they are reasonable people I will show respect and continue to frequent the lodge. If it is an atmosphere that that is anti what I stand for I will be polite and leave. Then I will share with you guys and economics should do the rest. I personally hope there are good people and maybe just maybe we can convert them (if need be) to the dark side. That would be a victory for the good guys.

I too will have to go check out the new lodge and see how it is under new management.

But as I look deeper into their facebook page i am getting more worried.

"I realize that the taking of Park wolves in the hunt affected all of us on an emotional level. Me too! But in the end the animals will find a way to regroup and move on. We must do that as well."

"Beginning tomorrow the Wyoming Game and Fish's "flex zone" (red outline on the map) for wolves moves north. This means that any wolf in the zone that is a trophy game animal TODAY, is a predator TOMORROW and can be killed without a license. This is one part of the regulation that REALLY bothers me."
