Feels like MOST of West Yellowstone CLOSES for the winter these days.
Its just a shadow of what it was 20 years ago mid-winter.

I think the place looked closed last year when I picked up my rental at Highmark.

I've been wondering why that is, because we see a lot more people out riding than we ever used to even just 5 years ago. Maybe the tourists just used to stick to the leisurely trail rides back then. Now, mountain riding has gained so much popularity that everyone who comes here is going off-trail instead.

I know my group doesn't do overnight trips like we used to. Most of my friends are at the stage they have little kids so they only get one day away from home at a time.
