Why is the LT so much more $$$?

Just asking. The LT is $700 more than the ST, and it bugs me. The difference in track cost is maybe $100, and as far as I can tell there's nothing different about the skid other than 6 more inches of rail and tunnel. What gives?

Plus... there is not as good of volume of LT track purchases... so those cost more than just the increase of cost related to track length.

.

I've built A LOT of stuff out of aluminum from full on custom tunnels to tiny parts and the price difference on the materials isn't very much. I'd be surprised if the price difference was even $100, that plus the track at $100. I think its a legitimate question why the LT is priced as it is. Check out Iceage's site, you can buy a complete new set of rails for less than $700.

It is a way for Timbersled to set different price points to get the most out of their customer base, even when cost difference for them is next to nothing. Smart business move to maximize profits I suppose. Some people are willing to pay more for something even though it is extremely similar, and this allows them to capitalize on it, without negotiating every sale individually.

This where competition comes into the picture and helps to drive these types of price discrepancies to a more reasonable level. Opportunity.

The damage is done boys and girls , there's no turning back .

Things aren't always priced based strictly on cost. Improved margins on the LT may offset slightly lower margins on the ST and average out to the companies margin objectives. Look at tractors, there isn't a single mechanical difference between a JD 8320R and a JD 8370R, but the list price difference is $58,000 because of a different ECU software. Getting more HP with one so you pay more. Even if "more" doesn't mean higher cost for the company building it.
