why is my m8 buring so much gas?

My 09 m8 was getting double the mileage that my dads 03 700 rmk and i was breaking trail all day. Im amazed how good the mileage on my m8 is

I think your in the ball park. I maybe get 5 at best. But then again I can ride all day and only use a half a tank. Now it all changes when I ride with the fam on the trails. Oh the fuel mileage sucks, My kids and wife will use a quarter of a tank and I will burn through near a whole tank. Maybe I need to buy a trail machine. Nahhhhhh!

efi

When i came to cats efi i think my mileage doubled with way more performence at 1/4 to 3/4 throttle.Ride all day and then some on 3/4 of a tank.....:D all little more oil though, but i would rather run it fat!!!

well i burnt about 30 litres of gas that day, and i'll have to check on the recall on the loose bolt that could be leaking and the oil pump, its going in tomorrow to get serviced so ill ask them. and i wasn't in real deep powder that day either. i put an arctic cat skid plate on my sled last week and is it possiable that i could have nicked a fuel line and it might have a slow leak?

If you got 90k out of 30 litres there is nothing wrong. Your tank holds 44, you had a ton left. The gauge on every M sled I have ridden hits empty way early, put a jerry can on the back and run the main tank out one day and see how far you can really go.

what i have noticed is when the fuel guage reads empty on our 09 m8's i only put in 5 gallons to top it off. the guage is WAAAAAAAAAY OFF. just an observation. dont use the guage as a measurement for mileage use the measurement of how much fuel you put in v.s miles ridden. obviously playing in the steep and deep will burn more fuel than being easy on the flipper. ski

My 05, M7 burns almost double the fuel that my frinds 07, 700 RMK dragon burns. I am just worried I won't make it back to the truck when it is dark thrity and I am cold , wet and tired. Is the M7 usually that thirsty?

Totally agree on the 2010 M8 162 SP. I went 72 miles and used less than a half a tank of fuel (less than 5 gallons). On my 01 Polaris 800, I would have been limping home or run out and it is a larger tank. The hubby rode the 2000 Polaris 600 and he had less than 1/4 tank left. It is was great.

Now if I could just get the suspension dialed in for me and then a new can and the clutching, I would be in heaven. Hopefully before the end of the year.

Like most on here, I ride the 09 M8 sno-Pro 153 all day hitting the hills and trees, trails just to where we ride and use an average of 6 to 7 gallons. My 08 M8 used about the same.
My buddys 08 D7 does just slightly better than me.
