Why do people think the M Series Chassis is older the Dragon?

I have read on here post after post on how dated the M series chassis is. It came out the same year (05) that the IQ chassis did (900 RMK/Fusion). But most peeps think the dragon is on a new chassis. Granted the RMK has changed a lot since then but so has the M.:confused:

Maybe they think that because the IQ Chassis looks pretty much like the RAW chassis which the dragon is on. Same thing but with some MAJOR upgrades. Hood is basically the same, with the exception of how it hooks on the front of the sled..

I've made that mistake myself. I think the reason is that Cat nailed that chassis right away. It came on the scene as a nimble easy to ride chassis. Had a lot of fan fair from it's beginning. The IQ has been through quite a few refinements to get to where it is now. Since it keeps getting better I think it is easy to perceive it as new. Plus many people don't acknowledge it in the 900. I think they try to forget.

the M is just a firecat tweaked for the mountains, same front end ect ect. no way it was a ground up build...

the two sleds are no where near the same he f is 1.5 in narrower all the way around so you get a 13.5 wide track and the front end is way wider on the f, along with the added weight

Agreed. A few inches wider or narrower is not a major difference.

What year did the Firecat first appear?

That ZR chassis was around forever too!

Firecat came out in 03 and the M came out in 05. If you are going to look at things this way for Cat, look at it the same for Polaris. The Wedge was close to 10 years(I think), then came the gen 2, evolved and edge. IMO, and I have owned a gen 2 and currently own 2 edges', those 3 are basically the same and that lasted from 94-03/04(again, I think). Let’s not forget the Year of the Fusion, which ended up being a short year before the IQ came out. All in all from a general, non-technical point of view, every manufacture has a great redesign and then tweaks it for years. If you get into the details, then you could almost argue that all manufactures have new sleds every other year.

That’s kind of what I was thinkin. Most new chassis are just a new hood on the close to the same frame. Except the REV. That was a major change.
