Why do Canada teams struggle to make the NHL playoffs ... 3 teams from California & 2 teams from Florida made it to the 1st round .... Must be the money.

Currency is worth crap and taxation skyhigh along with media pressure that is second to none makes for a less desirable place for unrestricted free agents as their first choice. Mostly comes down to just being lucky with draft choices and trades and picking up free agents that can create synergy in the locker room. Best players escaping injury is most crucial. Coaching and general manager positions are totally overrated and have little impact. In fact the revolving door of many organizations for these two positions almost make it impossible to win through The most important ingredient of all which is continuity.

In addition to currency and tax issues making it difficult to attract top free agents it also terribly impacting the NHL in terms of expansion. No attractive Canadian cities at this time in part due to currency and tax issues. That is a bummer.
