Why are ATV/Snowmobile permits so expensive in the state of Utah?

It just cost me $68.50 to renew the tags on my 4-wheeler this year .... it's a 2007, it's not even brand new.

Last year it was less than that I'm sure.

It's $50 every time I register my sleds it seems like ...

Why is it so much more expensive in Utah than Wyoming or Colorado?

I know, it crazy. im a resident of alaska so i bought my sled in ogden and registered it in alaska so i didnt have to pay sales tax. just buy a annual Utah non resident sticker for $30 and im good. i blame the high taxes on the churches here.

i blame churches too ??? it is a cost of government. sticker from the private sector: $2, sticker from the government: $68 wait 'til health care and auto biz go that route.

So do you have a Utah or Alaska drivers license? I take it you live in alaska but have a second home here to ride? If you have a utah drivers license they won't let you get a non resident $30 sticker.......

Churches? That's interesting.

The problem is property taxes... oh excuse me, age based fees. Utah is one of a few states that charge property taxes (age based fees, sorry, I keep forgetting it isn't taxes) on real property. So you get to pay sales tax when you buy it and then another tax (Oh, I mean fee) each year after that.

Yes, it is super expensive. Try registering 60 ATV's and snowmobiles a year....ouch!

If I pay it to the Government they can call it whatever they want but it's still a TAX to me.
