Whos putting a Supercharger on their Nytro

bs

i call BS on this thread I'm totally happy with my mpi except the extra cost to get it right. Good Install makes a good product

FX Nytro supercharger/ Turbo

I have a customer that wants to sell supercharger for Nytro 250-836-4422
HTML:
www.powderlites.com

supercharger

I have worked through all issues with mine and really like it, the only complaint I have is my joints ache at the end of the day from holding on, must be showing my age.

MCX or Powderlites turbo no question. Ride with a guy with a supercharger on his Nytro and he is very unhappy with the sled, wishes he would have went turbo. Belts keep falling off. Pulley backing off. MCX 12 psi on pump gas at 235 HP Supercharger 11psi with 50/50 race fuel at 220 HP. Enough said. Nytro Turbo all the way. I have a Nytro with MCX kit at 13 psi and absolutely love it with no headaches.

Soon I hope. But we have always been the ugly stepchild of boost. We have to beg borrow or steal a prototype or pre-production sled to package our stuff on. Yamaha of Blackfoot brought this one to us but we have only had a few months to prototype it. These guys are great to work with. When Yamaha brought the Nytro around the first time to the dealers they called me and said they would have the sled for only a couple of hours, so Chris kept the driver busy while Dan and I stripped it on the trailer to see if we could put our blower on it!!! I will say that this is our best set-up yet. So far it will only require one hole to install. And we use a by-pass valve, and make our own pulleys so they don't fall off. We hope to bring the prototype to West Yellowstone for all to see.

With all due respect, I will have to disagree. I spoke with you at the SLC snowmobile show, a year and a half ago, about your SC and offered my stock Apex and/or stock Vector for you to use as a prototype. Could have had it the whole time of April to December. You said that you were quite interested in that, I called and emailed numerous times without one, single response. Not trying to bash, but just keeping it real. I truly hope that you can produce a great product. As was mentioned by KC earlier, the MPI SC leaves a lot to be desired - I know.

Have MPI stage 2. Had/has some issues. Cannot complain about the help from MPI with the resolution of these problems. However they probably have sold over 100 nytro kits, and who knows how many apex kits. I would be VERY interested to see the Thundercharger setup (looks very clean)....mostly their air to water intake would be awesome. Maybe they won't put out kits until they are perfect, but I would be willing to bet if they had as many kits out as MPI there would be a slight;) chance there could be a bug or two in their system as well. I think any company putting out product is going to see hiccups....just look at the issues with every sled manufacturer and their sleds. belts..subframes...melting....injection....for only $11,000
Getting off my soap box now

Yes, and I do appreciate the offer but using someones personal sled wouldn't be a good idea. I wouldn't want to have the responsibility of not getting it done on time or worse yet blowing up your engine in the process. And yes we have had our problems also. When we started turning up the wick on this thing we started to surpass the strength of the belts we were using. We started out with a serpentine belt and then went to an 8mm GT belt and still blew them up to often. Now we are using an 8mm Poly Carbon Gates belt that is rated well above our needs. Basically the same belts we use on our Blown Top Alcohol engines we build. (We went to the West Yellowstone drag races last year at 22#'s boost , and in testing blew two of our three GT belts we brought. So with the collective decision of to finish first , first we must finish, we dropped the blower pressure down to 14#'s. We were the only supercharged sleds there. And the only one that handed us our azz back was Freak. And even he was looking over at us at 300 ft. but after that he walked away. Hopefully he will get his sled back together so we can try him again this year.) We may not be able to beat him , but I think he will know we were there. And in defence of MPI, outfitting a supercharger on a sled engine isn't as easy as everyone thinks. There is a lot more engineering and machine work to be done then with a turbo. Basically anyone that is good with plumbing can package a turbo. (I know I'm going to catch chit for that one!!!) But we are close to having a bolt on supercharger kit that will work well. Go Big!!

Thunder - it's all good, only wish that ya'all would have communicated that previously. I now understand completely and wish you the very best.

THUNDERCHARGER, there maybe problems with SC's maintance but there is no product out there that is maintance free. (headers, fuel controlers, waste gates, etc)

My biggest beef about MPI is no R&D, which I was explained to on the phone by them that is was a bullet proof and working great. I do not appreciate being lied to.

Then when you where done a conversation with them they have the balls to say when you get it figured out let us know.

The a/f fuel guage and boost guage that I ordered from them is not even water proof!!!

Then the mounting bracket for the guages when installed was in the way to get the fuel cap off???

I ordered the stage 2 kits with pulleys for 14 lbs boost, when installed both kits ran 17-18 lbs at 3500ft-6500ft. So they charge me $350.00 for different pulleys, and said I was the only guy with the problem. Well I received alot of PM's with other riders with the same issues.

I am finally getting it dialed in, I think one more ride and it will be about as close as I can get it.

This summer rods and pistons will go in so I can run prem pump fuel.

when is the kit going to be ready for the nytro, and about how much money will it be, im getting tired of going slow

I'll be either going MCX or Powderlites and right now I'm leaning towards the Powderlites just because of the support alone. Dave's kit is a lot of kit for the money from what I've seen so take a good hard look at it.

Sorry KC BOOST but I'm getting really tired of all your sniveling and crying !!!! Go buy a turbo so you can bash them into the ground when it doesn't run right for you. Also for everyone out there turbo's and s/c's do NOT come with gauges , clutching parts, ect!!! If it comes with the kit you've paid extra for it !!! I also had the pullies come off, until I actually read the instructions on how to install them properly. That was my fault totally and I'm sure "KC BOOST" didn't install them correct either. That's not MPI's fault they have the instructions for us to read. I was in such a hurry to get done i just glanced at the instruction and did not pay attention to the spacing. Since I followed the directions and got the proper key way spacing my pullies are fine. In fact I never looked at my sled the rest of the year. There is always going to be minor problems when you want horsepower. Oh and for those that think turbo's don't have issues, my buddies mcx turbo kept blowing the boost line off from his gauge (which did NOT come with his turbo it was bought as well) leaving his boosted sled useless!!!! No power at all. Took awhile to figure that one out. Turns out to be an easy fix, just like the problems with a s/c's. So if you don't want problems buy a stock sled !!!!! Then you'll really have something to cry about. This was not mean't to bash you KC BOOST, It's all just getting old. Move on man!!!!:beer;:beer;:beer;

When I boost my Nytro it will be with a MPI SC. I want the throttle response for jumping and dropping.

At MPI we spend thousands on R&D and testing we purchas at least 4 units when building kits for a new model and perform extensive testing on dyno and in snow.

If the customer fallows instructions to the T you will have 0 issues. We get calls daily from people asking questions that are in the instructions and when we tell them what page they say oh there it is.

Yes There are always some units that just dont seem to work right and we have to help get them working right.

We have had some issues with Customer Service in the past. We are very busy but customers are everything to us.

If anyone has any questions please call me
