Is there a bad 600?
Honestly, not sure i have ever had or heard about a bad experience with any 600

I bought a 2013 Polaris 600 pro RMK for my wife. It had 2000 KM. took it for the first ride and got 6 km and lost the motor.

I had two 2007 Switchback 600's. One burned down once and the other twice.
I think all were on the mag side. All covered under warranty. Back then it was, man that 600 is bullet proof. And they weren't even flickable.

I am also riding a 660 this season, funnest sled i ever owned, dosent give up anything on a 800, I would love to try a 660 in the axys chassis

I have a 2010 RMK chassis running an 2007 carbed 600 with a SLP 727 kit.

Men are amazed how strong it pulls

No idea how guys are thinking the 600 provides sufficient power in deep powder, I feel like my 800 is under powered in the steep and deep.

A 600 is fine for low elevation, flat land, or small hills, hell, my mxz 583 would blow away 670's and 700's all day long on the trail and across the meadows but when it came to hills, not even close to keeping up with them...... no small cc engine will ever keep up with a larger cc engine when it comes to power output. Anyone who says different is ignorant to the facts. Yes a well set up a 600 can beat a crapy setup 800 however, when sleds are equal, the larger cc will make it further! At 11,000 ft a 600 will have a hard time keeping up with an 800.

Rode a 16 M6000 limited in Michigan this past weekend and all I can say is wow I was impressed. It of course had more power at low elevation but I was riding my 14 M8000 for 2 straight days prior. I could take any line I would try on my 800. The throttle response was so much better on the 600 I think that made up for the top end in the trees. It had a pair of B&M Skinny boards and a can. Both had 2.6 tracks so that was equal too. If I only rode low elevation that is what I would ride in a heart beat.

My buddies cat just went down for a second time. Broken skirt. Got the jug this time. Got 400 miles out of that piston. He is going with different pistons this time. I think he is getting rid of it. Everyone should be happy cat kept their 800 for another year and didn't change to a c tech.

Wife has been on a 600 pro for a couple year and I have spent some time on it too. Fun sled but 600 or 660 are under powered for real mountain riding, not ego just fact. Wife is 120 lbs and it has worked well for her as she has progressed with her skills in the mountains. She put some time on my 16 163 AXYS
this season and she rode it better, easier and much more confident than her 600 155. She like it so much that she just snow checked a 17 163 AXYS 800. Surprised me but I am happy as getting that 600 out of some of her predicaments was no where's near as easy as popping the 800 out. No comparison in real mountain capability, doesn't mean you can't have a blast on the 600 and ride descent terrain but when it gets steep and deep you don't have the necessary power.

i thought for the last few years i would just get the 600 pro over the 8. i dont mind a little less power in exchange for playfullness. however when the axys chassis came out and they did not upgrade the 600 motor in the same manor, the weight difference thing ruined the idea for me.
same weight = meh, ok... a few pounds more = plain dumb. jmo.
ended up ordering a 17 mountain cat anyways. again, they didnt offer the same things on the 6 that they are on the green 8. its just silly to me. im a pretty decent rider and dont need to be pushing the 800 as far as i likely will on those scary avy days.

Spent a lot of time on a 15' M6000 the last two years. Really fun little sled. Really wanted to try one with the 3" track they offered in 15'. The gage on the M6000 is way better than the M8000, other than that chassis the same. I've been trying to get all my riding buddies to get 600cc back up sleds so we can have 600cc ride days. Takes a lot more skill to ride a 600 where we normally ride 800's, the 600 can get there, but takes a lot more effort. Remember 10-15 years ago when you had to work to get your sled places where you wanted it?

The Cat 600 C-Tec is really strong. Like, I was either super impressed with the Cat's motor, or really let down with the Polaris 800(pre-HO) when I rode both a few seasons ago. Both sleds were to the bar all day long and hella fun! The 800 Cats we had that day were head and shoulders better, but that 600(and Pro800) were so fun pinned everywhere!

I'm saying that the older 800(non HO) Pro that was a demo from the local dealership was within half a ski length all day long of the Cat C-Tec. Either the Pro was very disappointing, or the Cat 600 is an over achiever for what it is.
The Pro had 400km on it, the Cat had 250km on it.

I was VERY impressed with the '16 M6000 that I got to ride a bit last year. I think it would compare very favorably with any good running M7, and like Reeb said, most Polaris 800s.

i'm gonna bet the pro was under preforming. no 600 will hang with an 800 especially a 13 or newer. the cat is 30 lbs heavier and probably giving up 20 hp. i really don't know much about cats anymore and i have rarely seen many on the mountain the last 4 years. i really would like to ride another one some day .

no i haven't rode a cat in years but my 800 pro would handily beat my piped m1000 163. so i'm not seeing a 600 do any better . i saw the above comment comparing a 600 cc much heavier cat with a much lighter weight 800 pro with more power and better deep snow ability a little backhanded .

Well it wasn't. Only reporting what I experienced. And there's no brand bashing here, I have a Axys that I'm waiting for a call for to come get as soon as it's uncrated.

The sled was a dealer demo with maybe 6 rides on it. As far as I know it was bone stock. The Cat was also bone stock and also a dealer demo. The 800 Cat I had out that day was another demo but had a full exhaust, TKI, boards, etc etc so of course the Pro wouldn't have kept up, nor been a fair comparison.

That 600 C-Tec is the real deal. Very very strong little sled.
