who has prayer before sledding??

I say a prayer every time I ride, have always done so privately though, seems like it might be a good idea to see if the group would like to join me, maybe next ride....

I'm puzzeled, people are praying to be safe while mountain sledding, which is or could be considered a dangerous sport, and I take it some of you are putting your life in danger by highmarking as no one can predict where or when an avalanche will happen?

I can understand your rational by trail riding or being out in general just having a good time.

I participate in this sport and know the risk (high marking or what ever you want to call it), admittedly you can argue that driving down the road is dangerous but, by deliberatly running up a chute or slope is temping fate.

Having been raised as some sort of a Christain and then abandoning it years ago I'm now agnostic or even athiest but, I understand the fundamentals of it.

The way I understood it is that by knowingly putting your life in harms way goes againts your makers wishes, so by praying to have an angel keep you safe while your taunting possible death is perplexing.

yes..we are so thankful that despite who we are and as imperfect we are that we can pray regardless and Gods grace is asked..so forgive us for taunting death...our sin nature...we know its wrong....but we are human...we try to change daily...we fail daily...

Well said..... I ride with multiple friends who say prayers before we head out. Let me assure you I am far from being a "Biblethumper" but I have enough faith to know that I can ask for a little safety from above even if I put myself in a less than perfect situation. Everybody's ticket is already punched, but it will make difference what you do with the time you do have.

Personal Prayer almost always...never force it on anyone but do pray for all with me...mainly for wisdom and for safety, as LOTS can happen on a hill...

hey will no offense but you want all that info answered, start your own thread on it ;)

We sure do, usually the guys that aren't to religious are the ones to shut the sleds off first and group everyone up.

Im not religious but, I do have a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior.

Yes, I pray everyday. Once in the morning, before a meal and before I go to bed. Yes, and before a ride.

Will - Yes it is a risky sport, but so is a many number of things we do in life so why not pray in all things we do? The lord already knew long ago that on that day you would be riding, that is his amazing power. Through his grace the day will safe and you can return to your family.

Hope everyone has a safe riding season, as most know our time on earth is preplanned and no matter what we do you cant change that, so thank the lord everyday and enjoy life!! Merry CHRISTmas!!!

Its refreshing to see how many are prayin before they ride!! Dont mean to steal the thread but how many of the same give thanks to God when they return safely? or for that matter just for waking up every morn? After all if ya didnt have air to breath when ya woke up where would you get it??

Always. Lord, keep me from excessive stupidity. Thank You for your creation and the means to enjoy it in this manner. Wisdom and strength to function in an emergency. In Jesus' name.

-as a bare minimum

Funny how people get real personal, real quick with God in an emergency.

Couldn't agree more. Our group prays, before every ride, in the parking lot. Same thing, thank Him for His creation, ask for safety, and wisdom to know what we shouldn't do.

I do. Of course, I ask for help on lots of other stuff from my family, my job and to help my kids too. I also thank Him for the opportunity to do what I get to and for a country (so far) where I can have the freedom to succeed, play and pray. I have lots to be thankful for...

Philippians 4:6

My dad and all my bros have a tradition, we huddle around each other and have prayer before riding! Anyone else??

Here's Pauls advice---------Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. ;)

Peace Out and Be Blessed,

Johnny.
