Who Has Hit DET???

Who has crept up in boost till they found detonation? Did the knock sensor catch it before catastrophic effects? Also, has anyone had spark plugs back out before hitting the DET sensor? Probably most interested in IQ/Dragon sleds. Thanks in advance!

det sensor works.....but

I can tell you from experience that the det sensor works and if it persists in coming on you have less than 50 miles of it repeatedly coming on to correct the problem or you have done irrepairable damage to the ever so precious pistons! And yes the sparkplugs will start coming out. Cold egt's on one side......check that your sparkplug is not three threads from coming out. The det sensor is not the only tool you should use when trying to determine if detonation is under control. It is only the failsafe. Pistons and sparkplugs are on the front line of combustion and have much to tell before the det sensor trips.

Good info-thanks! So you have had spark plugs back out before piston failure?

I had some messed up fuel lines in the tank causing a lean condition below 1/2 tank tripping the DET sensor. I did lose an electrode off an Irridium plug then...they are in the garbage now. Going to run the Doo plugs this year.

I'm getting ready to see if these MTNK pistons can take 16-18 lbs with 106mon and two degrees of retard. I was at 13lbs with 100ll and stock timing.

I'll watch plugs and pistons. Any more thoughts are appreciated.

Surely someone has hit some det.....cutting out like a stutter box till you shut it off and restart.......
