who has had good luck with extended warranty ?

I'm pretty sure Zurich will write a policy for any sled 6 years or newer. We sell this "aftermarket" warranty at work and have actually had decent luck with claims and such.

update

We just sold a Zurich Extended warranty for a 2011 pro that was 7 days from expireing (sp) factory warranty. $1310 for 4 additional years with $0 deductible. If your machine is out of factory warranty, they will still write a policy but it is more money.

Yikes, $1300 for 4 years. Id rather put the money into the motor.

Yes, that is more than having Indy Dan do the top end with his reinforced cylinders and matched the the pistons. For $800 more a full long rod upgrade! And that includes a three year warrenty! In my opinion extended warranties are worthless, because when it comes right down to actual coverage they have enough loop holes in the verbiage to screw you and deny payment. I will never pay good money for another one, regardless of the carrier or salesman's promises. Just my $0.02!
