So really honestly who goes to the dentist and how often.

I have dental reimbursment at work but I bet it's been 3 years since I've gone. Figure I brush morning, night and after I drink Mt Dew so I'm good to go unless something hurts.

I'll be damned if I wasn't brushing my teeth and flossing tonight when I noticed a dark spot on the bottoms of a couple molars where I was pretty sure I don't have fillings. Went and asked the wife to look and she said no fillings.

So I figure I got a damn cavity that has been there awhile. Not sure how I missed it and how it hasn't hurt.

Guess I should go see the tooth doc this week and then go more often

Have to be "class 1" for flight status, which means no cavities or other problems. Have an annual checkup w/ xrays, and then twice yearly cleaning. Just went yesterday for my second one this year...all is as it should be.

Oh, and I am a religious flosser...my last dentist finally convinced me about the problems that can come from NOT flossing, that aren't teeth related. I think I go through a thing of floss a week!

2 times a year. Hate it!!
They are car salesmen. I have been told I need a crown for about 6 -8 years no pain no issues So W t F?? I smile and nod:face-icon-small-hap and tell them maybe next time!!

fug so I'm drinking my pop with lunch and my teeth on the other side hurts now:mad: Man now they will wanna do the whole check up deal with x-rays first. How does this chit happen with daily brushing and flossing?

I hear ya on the salesmen part....been told I need braces since I was 12. Last time I went in the guy tells me that I need them after he's done and I'm leaving. Just said, "boss I've lived with crooked teeth for 23 years of life, I can keep going".

Car salesman stuff cracks me up, you go to the lot wanting a car, they deliver, you whine. :D

Twice a year, X rays once a year. No cavities in 28 years, no sense starting now!

You should have it checked out. You don't want to have an infection going where you might need a root canal (deaden the nerve to a tooth) or something more serious.

I did not really go to the Dentist the past decade or two... never made the time...

In the past year or so I have gone to the Dentist and gotten my teeth cleaned, etc... They could not believe I had no cavities, etc, especially after not going for 20 years...

I guess it's good genes and saliva, not mention a health diet... any way, I do og every year now, taking advantage of the free cleaning, etc... My teeth look as white as ever, but feel cleaner...

My mom would be proud... :D

I had my teeth cleaned even three times a year, but about three years ago I had a filling replaced by one of these young modern mass production dentists and it never really stopped being temperature sensitive, We changed dentists to an older slower guy and lo and behold I had to have a root canal on that sensitive tooth. No problems now, the new modern high speed crap doesn't always work out. The first thing I say is now" Doc I'm not gonna buy you a new Suburban you know"!

I go about every 5 to 10 years and only have had one cavity my whole life.

Brush twice a day though. I know alot of people only brush once a day if that.

I brush 3 times a day. in the morning, when i get home from work and before i go to bed. dentist once a year and still they always seem to find something to drill. ****ers.

I got insurance so twice a year to clean. Now they want to fix all my larg old fillings with caps. One a year for seven years so they can run it though insurance witch pays half. They suggested to get-r-done befor one would retire.

I get mine cleaned 2 times a year. I need to replace my old silver fillings. Reason being is that if you eat cold things the silver expands and contracts with the heat very minutly but enough for cracks to form in your teeth. I had one of my farthest rear molars break apart because of this and another in front of that one starting to crack too. The rear one broke off more than 50% and I could have had root canal and crowned for about $3k but I would have been on the hook for about $1600 and there still would be no guarantee that it would hold. (Probably not cause my jaw allignment is off after taking a header into a building puting more friction in that corner. So I had them yank it for $250. (Not to mention I could not take the pain for 2 weeks for a rush root canal to be done.) I wish I would have taken better care of my teeth. Preventive maintenance will insure you still have teeth when your 70. (Unless you do meth) :)

Family history plays a huge role in your teeths basic health.
Not to say brushing and such isn't important, it's just some people have teeth like granit and they can go 10 years without even brushing with zero problems. I'm not one of those.
I go 2 times a year.
I have 3 fillings and 1 root canal in 44 years.

you have to go and go often.....nasty if you wait a few years or longer.....when you brush you miss crap, when you floss you miss crap, sometime push it in your gums....get a hot hygentist to clean your teeth 2 to 3 times a year.... if you dont want to get them fixed atleast get them clean.....your brush or electric brush isint the same.....gums tell alot about your teeth to...

but im not a dentist, just my thoughts

I'll be a monkeys uncle I have no cavities, just some small fillings that I forgot about and aren't very shinny.

Well thats good news then! I didn't take very good care of my teeth when I was a kiddo and I'm paying for it now. I spent many an afternoon in the dentists office getting things fixed. Now I make it a point to brush and floss all the time.
