Who actually uses their mountain bar anymore?

You really don't understand how much you use it until you take it off...
I didn't think I ever used mine until I went with out it ONCE, LOL I fell off several times that day...

I think I need a picture. I'm picturing you turning your sled upside down again this year and needing something to grab. Am I close? :face-icon-small-hap

Upside down sled is a given... lol

Here's my mountain bar. I did end up moving the tether to my console.

And then here's a day when the mountain bar was needed... for giggles...

keep it for:

  1. When you need to roll the sled upright.
  2. Random technical situations.
  3. Ca-nucking/two-upping, whatever you want to call it.

Or get rid of it but keep in the garage for resell or if you decide you want it for whatever reason.

hmm

I must be an expert at wreckin,,,,, I have never once hit that thing, or at least felt it on the way by????

maybe because I'm 6'2"???????

Nice for rolling the sled over for sure. I never use mine when riding though. Whenever I ride with someone and see them using the mountain bar in the parking lot I know it is going to be a long day.
Oh great! Not only do I have to worry about embarrassing myself out in the back country I now have to worry about it in the parking lot! :face-icon-small-sho

Gotta disagree. After reading your statement I had to go check to see if I even had one. I don't and can't say I even remember riding with one. Broke stock bars two seasons ago and never put one back on. But I can relate, if you don't fall off several times a ride you aren't really riding.

I keep it on so my 2 yr old daughter has something to hold on to.

Isn't that the reason they put those on there? Handles for kids is all they are. The pro side hills and rolls over so easy I can't see ever needing it other than two of my four boys still ride with me and in front of me.

To start - I am a rookie at this mountain riding thing....

I attended a quick riding techniques class this fall taught by a gentleman that we all know on here. He advised the mountain bar was not to be used while riding. He pushed to have both hands on the bars at all times, mountainbar not included. His reasoning behind it was to allow total control at all times while manuevering the machine; be it sidehill, hill climb, or most importantly during a controlled decent when you are not pointed straight downhill.

I am keeping mine on and going to push myself to not touch it while riding
So this instructor telling you to never use it, (sounds a lot like the schooled video..). I would be willing to bet he still has then on his sleds.

I agree with him that they should not be used in these, or any, "riding" situation. However that doesn't mean it doesn't have it's use. I took it off for a few rides last year because I never use it and was sick of hitting my chest on it. What I found out was how helpful it is when stuck, and how much more the bars hurt than the mountain bar when you do hit them.
