Whistlin jacks

Not good!

We went up on Sunday due to desperation to get the family out of the house.
The Spring Creek snow park was bare. We drove up to Swamp Creek (Boulder Cave) and unloaded on a solid sheet of ice. I had heard (second hand info from the groomer) that the trail had no bare spots so we chanced it. It was solid ice for about two miles which required 3 stops to chip snow off the side of the road to fill our skids and let sleds cool. After that the ice scratchers did fine but due to the wind storm from the day before there was tons of debris on the trail for most of the ride up. Not to mention the downed trees, and i mean a lot of them. Two we could ride around throught the dirt, mud and twigs. One the was about 18" around and slightly elevated, we lifted 6 sleds over going up and back. No way around it. I stoped and picked up about 3 more small trees that were crossing the road.
The nice part was that top 1000' of the hill wasn't bad. About 6" average of fresh snow on Little Bald and over to Clover Springs.
FYI- I was also told that the Milk Creek snow park has the berm moved up the road. I haven't been up to check but I would guess that it's up to the pond (?).
Well, I hope that helps. :face-icon-small-dis
