Whistler Says No To Snowmobiles At Winter X Games 2013

Yet another example of the hypocritical granola heads that don't want stinky snowmobiles into the Callaghan valley (that's the valley that they stood by while they clear cut it for the Olympic skinny ski track). Next time I see one of those "guys" in their spandex suits I'm going to run them over.

What a bunch of crap, those people have no brain and ESPN needs to grow a pair and say this is what X Games are, like it or we are going somewhere else

Wouldn't it be exciting if that made room for that ever exilerating new sport...........................Curling?:face-icon-small-con

Speaking of hypocrites............Have you ever noticed how they mention the "carbon footprint" of the snowmobiles?

Think about the carbon footprint of all the diesel powered snowcats they have grooming the Whistler / Blackcomb resorts. All will have them in operation during X -Games.......doesn't happen without them!

That is a CARBON FOOTPRINT. Don't ever, EVER be fooled by the two-faced, hypocritical greenie saying how environmentally conscience they are and whatever negative impact sleds have on the environment. Snowcat to sled is like comparing a speck of pepper to a pile elephant dung when comparing in this scenario.

Ri-friggin-dic-culous! :director:

....ok...I'm done :D

Who is the ones making the decisions on the X games venues?? And what qualifies them... The games are about pushing the limits of the athletes and having the venue to allow them to do this. In my opinion, Whistler boasts some of the best athletes and terrain all in one package. The people making the decisions must have a tainted view--- aka granola crunchers

I'm not clear if it's a bunch of ESPN pencil pushers or who. Rest assured, money is highly involved for wherever the venue lands.

I feel very fortunate to have had the X-Games here in Colorado (Both Aspen, most recently and Crested Butte back in the day) for so long. It's run it's course here and time for it to move on.

I fully agree Whistler or somewhere Vancouver is a perfect venue packed with high quality top shelf athletes waiting to showcase their talents.

I hope the "powers that run this road show" realize the viewers (money) being lost when you alienate snowmobiling. Feels like someone is intentionally trying to give sledding a black eye. Hummmm.........never heard of that before!:face-icon-small-dis

Foot print

What about the foot print of the clear ur for Whistler and the ash fault used to pave over all the streets that are lined with the buildings they cut down trees to build which just happened to encroach on some of the precious wold life they are trying to protect from snowmobiles or the diesel fired backup power generators and backup lift operations engines and the 4 lane highway built specifically for access to Whistler for Olpimpics.........holy crap man. And they are worried about sleds that meet or exceed as many emissions levels as any of the vehicles they drive to get to Whistler ......and the list goes on

Al Whitney is a tool. I am going to call him out in the Pique in response to his letter to the editor a couple weeks ago. I need to find out what he drives for a vehicle and how many times he flys on jets a year before I respond though...working on it! Or he must walk or cross country ski everywhere he goes...

I wonder how many people that read this thread also read my "Skiiers must be destroyed" thread.

And you people wonder why I posted that?

**** all of them. If they're so concerned about "the environment" then they should all promptly hang themselves. Anything less is total hipocracy.

His Daughter Toria Whitney was/is? on the Canadian Alpine ski team and was flying around the world to europe for races, south america for preseason training multiple times a year. Airline travel is exponentially worse than snowmobiling.
