Whistler / Brandywine - Looking for someone to ride with

Hey!

I'm heading up Brohm on saturday with a buddy.
First ride of the season!

Hey Dave! How was Brohm? I'd heard it was good.

I guess it might still be a little thin in spots? I saw a sled amputation driving thru Squam, a Pro with a ski and A arms ripped off.

Brandywine was a bit bony this weekend, not much new snow but you can head all the way up the gauntlet from the left hand side. Loads of rocks up the S.

Tricouni was a bit of a mission to get up into (picked our way through a clearcut off the road after shovelling in a few ditches but the meadow was untouched and about 20" deep at the bottom. Have to shuttle right to the very top of the road though.

There was about a foot of "softer" stuff on top of a pretty tough base. On the lee sides of some slopes there was more snow, but a pretty tough wind crust had developed on top.

We had a good time up there, it was nice just to get out and rip around. I think we explored most of the main areas at Brohm - it was my first time up there.

I forgot my iPhone so I didn't take as many pics as I would have liked. Here is one of my on my XM and my buddy's M8 Snow Pro at the top of the ridge.

Planning to head up to Brohm again with the same buddy and one of his friends on Saturday, as long as I'm not working.
May take the girl up on Sunday if she is game as well.

Hey Dave, how high up did you have to drive to unload? Wouldn't mind getting up there on Saturday, but I have a trailer and a car, so I can't drive up too far. Kinda weak

I wouldn't try to get up there with a car & trailer. There was a 4wd tacoma with agressive tires that was having a hard time getting up the final stretch. It's a pretty rough road - don't take your car up there if you like your car! My buddies sled tried to jump off his Chevy 1500 because the road was so bumpy.

Took us 30 minutes to drive up and I have upgraded suspension (airbags) in my tacoma.

I did it in a hilux with a trailer last week, but had to park just at the snowline, couldn't make it up one of the tighter/steep right hand switchbacks and had to get all sketchy turning around. I was in 4-Lo most of the time with big, new tires,

I would 100% not recommend it with a car. At all. The road is destroyed, to put it mildly. Probably took me 45 mins to pick my way up it? In fact, of the 3 areas I rode last week (Tricouni, Brohm and Brandywine) Brohm's road was the worst. Ended up going with a friend and using their sleddeck the other 2 days. Not much is trailer accessible right now.

Since you rode these 3 locations, which would you recommend for this weekend? I am planning on heading up Brohm again on Saturday, unless one of the other areas was better...

Depends on how much snow accumulates probably? They were all a bit rough in the snow dept.

Brandywine is probably best if you shoot up the gauntlet. Tricouni was pretty good, but a bit of a mission to get up to filling in ditches and climbing through some clearcuts.

This weekend will be day 3 off trail on a sled ever - probably not ready for the gauntlet yet! My truck made it up Brohm no problem so I'll be heading up back up there. We'll probably aim to be on our sleds by 8:30 or earlier this saturday.

Davedc, if your new, I'd recommend the Coquihalla area as well. It's diverse, can be easier.. And well travelled without glacier hazards. Just putting it out there, depending on where you live in the valley it might be closer too.

Thanks for the info Dave, think I'ma head to Coq Saturday morning for a little rip. Been itchin to get out!

Got a question for you guys. We come up a few times a year and ride and usually stay in a hotel, but that can get exspensive, so we are thinking of bringing and RV to stay in. Is there RV camping at Brandywine? I know we have to pay each day to ride, but can we camp in the big parking lot? Thanks.

Yes. I've had a buddy park his 40' toy hauler there.

Brandywine Monday and some more snow has accumulated. Playland was decent, couldn't really see up into the S and Gauntlet as it was too fogged in.

Sproatt today was good snow on the way up, recently groomed it looked like (parked WAY up in the last open area) but it was extremely foggy at the cabin. Snow level is pretty low down by the lake and didn't venture down due to my A arm's fear of stumps. There was a semi hardpack track down though.

Heading out tomorrow morning! Thinking Brandywine or Powder mountain, any recommendations?

I'm planning to do the same thing - sled is already loaded in the truck!
Anyone who wants to ride give me a call or text 6o4.8o8-nine-eight-three-zero.

I won't be up super early but should be able to be on the sled by 10am.
