Whidbey Island/ Bangor?

I may have an opportunity to take a job at Whidbey Island or at Bangor Naval Base.

Any one been there or in that area that can give me an idea about how it is over there?

My wifes family spends a lot of time at Oak Harbor. Really nice place. Small town feel, but everything you need. Fishing rules seem pretty complicated, but over all a really nice place. Took a drive through the northern area on our way home, and it's really nice up there also. Looks like a good place to retire on the island.

Interesting, my sister will be stationed there in a month or two (whidbey).

I think i will have a job opening up for me in the fire dept either at Bangor or Whidbey Island. Kinda worried about packing up everything and moving. I won't have the support of the family with the girls but i will be making about 20,000 a year more starting off, benifits and i could retire at the old age of 41.

Worst part would be loosing my idaho hunting privlages. Out of state tags are a killer!

My brother-in-law flies Growlers and is a flight instrcutor for the Navy out at Whidbey. If you want any specific info, pm me and I will forward it on to him. I was only out there once, but it seemed nice enough.

All my inlaws live on whidbey. Nice place. Banana belt there. The two least places for rain in western Wa. are Sequim (straight west of Whidbey) and Whidbey itself. Good beach fishing. Very pretty scenery. If I had to choose between Whidbey and Bangor, Whidbey all day every day. Any more questions?

I would rather go to Whidbey but the job is either Whidbey OR Bangor. So i will get what i get. I will have the option later to move if i choose to do so. If i get Bangor it will at least be a step to get me into the system.
