Which to buy?: 2010 FX Nytro SE or 2010 Rev-XP Summit 800R

Nytro has my vote if you are looking to boost it. For me personally, boosted two strokes arent worth fu(king with. ;)
If you aren't going to do any chassis/suspension mods, I'd say the 2010 would be the way to go. If you are going to change tunnel/suspension etc, buy a used 08/09 stocker and save yourself 5 G.

nailed it!

Hmmm
Those are some pretty strong endorsments!!

I should also caveat that with my first ride in deep powder I was so pissed off that i would have given the dang thing away....then i learned how to setup my skid and I was good after that. Proper setup is everything!

I seriously doubt I would make any major changes to a brand new sled in the first season. Down the road, entirely possible, but I would hope I didn't "NEED" to run right out and spend a pile of money on mods for a new sled.

Care to elaborate just a bit so I know what your trying to tell me here?

My first few rides I had the limiter strap loose on the front and it was trenching like a mother. I sucked it up all the way tight, and moved the transfer rod adjusters up to the red line. After that I was a happy camper. From what I hear about the 2010, they made the approach angle better so that will help with power performance.
If you keep the stock skid it will probably help a lot if you get stiffer springs in the back. I weigh about 250 geared up and the stock spring was too soft and would bottom alot.

Honestly, I would see about finding a holdover 08 or 09 and spend 2200-2500 on a skid and track. You'll be out performing the 2010s and you'll have spent less $ since they jacked up the prices this year. The performance of the maverick is crap compared to a CE or Powerclaw. you can also run a 162 with no tunnel mods.

The additional factor is that you can put about 8-10 grand into your Nytro and it will conqure more than most mortals have the balls for. *and it will do it year after year*

Put the same money into a 2 stroke and you wont get near as far up the mountain, PLUS it becomes a ticking timebomb.

Easy call IMHO

Thanks for the suggestion.

I love my Nytro and wouldn't trade it for a 2-stroke. It keeps up just fine and is 10x more comfortable to ride than an XP.

Mandatory easy changes...
- sell the Maverick and run either the 153 cat camo or 153 Powerclaw, cost will be minimal if you sell the Maverick
- post relocation kit, this is THE single best change you can make to the Nytro. OFT makes a sweet kit that replaces the stock plastic bushings with oil-lites. A pivot adapter and pivoting riser make the setup even sweeter.
- pre-filter every screen on the sled. There are two on each side panel and two on the hood. Sticky back foam around the headlight and duct tape over of the holes in front of the oil can. This will eliminate with 95% of your snow ingestion.
- break in takes a while, so don't get discouraged with bad clutching until you have at least 500 miles on the sled.

Others...
YZ10 battery is pretty cheap and easy weight loss (around 7 lbs)
Exhaust will drop 8-10 lbs (should be able to find a used one $150-200)

And deffinitely buy an 08 or 09 leftover. You can drop a lot of weight with the money you'll save.

IMO an 08 or 09 leftover would be a better way to go. If you can find an 08, you can probably get one for 8k or maybe even less. You can then put 3k into weight loss and a better track and still be below the 12k plus that the 2010 SEs are priced. I believe the 10s are only something like 21 lbs lighter. You can lose around 50lbs on an 08 or 09 with a different rear skid and a different exhaust alone and still only spend about 2 grand extra. Still less expensive than a 2010 and a lighter better handling sled to boot. Don't get me wrong, the 2010 SEs are going to be great sleds but IMO a lightly modded leftover is going to give you more bang for your buck. Just my 2 cents

So you do not think the 2010 "SE" is worth the money then. ??

Honestly, I would buy a nice used one for $5,500-6,000 and mod the crap out of it. You probably want to buy new, but there's reason not buy used with a 4-stroke, not much you can hurt on the Nytro.

I just want to be 100% sure I am not buying someone else's "problem" that they are off loading on me.
