Which to buy?: 2010 FX Nytro SE or 2010 Rev-XP Summit 800R

I am considering these two sleds.
One of them is going to find a home in my garage by fall.

Thus far all my riding has been on Summits, but maintence/reliability seems to be a real issue among owners of the 800R engine..

So I am looking for comments from the Yahama crowd as why I should consider moving over.

stocks the skidoo will spank it. But if your planning on spending lots o $$$ the Turbo nytro is really fun

I ride a polaris now but after watching yamafest in revy this year.I will have a Nitro this winter.

I have both an '08 XPX and '09 Nytro. Stock for stock I would still choose the Nytro, I enjoy it that much. Now, my Nytro on boost, discussion over Nytro hands down. My XP with 150 Hp (105 hp at altitude) stock is fun, my Nytro with 250 Hp (at any altitude) and still more reliable than my XP, not even up for discussion. The money spent on the turbo was well spent. If I had the chance to spend 6 grand on a turbo for either sled, I would still have chosen the Nytro. People can talk smack all they want about the weight, my turbo Nytro is probably the same weight as my '01 800 Summit was but with 250 hp I can put some smack down on some of the steepest and deepest stuff out there. You will love the Nytro. Rode mine all season, just gas. XP, always something with that thing.

I am not to a point where I was really thinking down the line far enough to toy with any major modifications. But I suppose that has to come into play now.

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate the side by side comments.

I have a couple mechanics here in Rigby Idaho that are both STRONGLY suggesting that I go with the Yamaha is I don't want my sled in the shop. And at this point I have to give their comments weight, as they spend their winters fixing a whole lot of XPs. Granted, around here, XPs rule the roost, so there are way more of them in the general population than there are Yamahas....

there will always be more doo's, poo's, or cat's, than yamahas. no matter where you go. ..it's just they way it's always been.

personally, i didn't like the 4 stroke powerband vs the 2 stroke powerband, on the 2 stroke it feels like the power just keeps on building and building..the 4 stroke feels like it's done almost in an instant, jsut bouncing off the rev limiter everwhere.

granted, i havent ridden an xp, but i wouldn't trade my 2 stroke for the torque of a 4 stroke..unless of course it was turbo'd

Its a very tough decision. Cousins xp is very nice. Would kick the crap out of a stock nytro. BUT a nytro with a track and suspension and a different tunnel or at least narrower foot holds will impress the holy crap out of anyone. I personally sold my 2 stroke (a very well running RT 1000 that iliketoridefast now owns) for the reliability of the 4stroke. Yeah the nytro doesnt even come close to the arm pulling power of the RT but i sure have a bigger smile on my face at the end of the day on the nytro.

There are some awesome turnkey T-Nytros in the classifieds for not much more than new stockers.

My Nytro has never let me down, and i've never been on a ride where I couldn't keep up.

When it comes to boondocking its hands down the best machine I've been on.

My only complaint is on those cold days there isn't much wind protection headed up/down the mountain.

funny you mention the wind issue but if you think about it wouldnt an xp be the same or worse?

I dont think the XP would be any worse. These sleds are built to stand up and ride anyways. I'll give up one small detail in exchange for the fun factor.

ture.
i guess you can always dress warmer.
i know that off of a vector with a medium windshield to an apex with a short one the apex you hands get alot cooler and the heaters on the grips dont work very well either.
hopefully if i ride a nytro or apex this year my klim gloves will be warm enough

I am not sure I am up to buying a used Turbo-Charged sled that someone else is parting with.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

I come from the High Performance boat manufacturing world.

And a used boat with a "Built" engine was just a GRENADE waiting to go off for the new owner.

I can't imagine that it would be much different with a sled. Guys who build up the engines, usually do so becasue they want to take it out and run it HARD.

Hmmm
Those are some pretty strong endorsments!!

I would be definately looking for a low milaege Turbo Nytro before looking at a new Nytro. I would not be worried in the least, in buying one with a MCX turbo that lived on pump gas.

Buddy just sold his 08 Nytro With MCX turbo for 12000.00 Canadian

Nytro has my vote if you are looking to boost it. For me personally, boosted two strokes arent worth fu(king with. ;)
If you aren't going to do any chassis/suspension mods, I'd say the 2010 would be the way to go. If you are going to change tunnel/suspension etc, buy a used 08/09 stocker and save yourself 5 G.
