Which sled to get the kid?

So next year my son will be 10 and want to get him into sledding. Then I think it would be fun to have a sled for other friends who don't ride to experience it. What is a great sled for a beginer. I thought of snochecking a new pro in 600, but only comes with a 155, and a lot of cash for a beginer sled. An m6? RMK 600? Give me ideas. skidoo 500 is light.

I rented a rmk 600 and both my boy (12) and my daughter (inexperienced 10) could handle it very well. I took it for a few rides and I had a lot of fun on it. For some reason, pricing on a m6, the people are too proud of. I'm looking for cheap m7 for my kids now....

As light as the new pro 6 is and as nimble as it is...I doubt you will find a better sled for a beginner, I also think resale a few years down the road is going to be much better then any other entry level sled out there, I also think it would make a great loaner/backup sled for a good rider....Just my .02

the skidoo freeride with a real track would be perfect for that age

or a 500fan rev with a 2" lug

Skidoo free ride was a joke of a sled. kids would out grow that in a month. As for a backup lender, forget it. a wast of money. .o2

drove a 340 freestyle and for a little sled around the cabin for kids, it would be great. For a backup sled for a newbie adult to ride, horrible. I would prefer to get one for both. drove a rmk 600 and liked it, would prefer pro-ride, but not worth $5000 more. Any input on M6 or etec 600, although I don't see many for sale and kinda expensive.

Started my boy on a 2003 570 Mtn Cat at 9, he is 10 now and just getting to where he can through it around a little. Will wait to get something else for a couple years.

My boy at 12 throwing m7 around... weight less than 90 lbs :face-icon-small-hap Just depends how much you take them out to play. Get something they can grow into not out off.... my .02

I remember my dad's theory on what we could ride as kids. If you can start it, you can ride. So, if your kid can't pull the cord on a 700, maybe it's a bit much?

Then again, when I started out, we had a Rupp with about 30hp and a Yamaha 377 (which I couldn't pull start until I was about 12).

I haven't found many people (any age or experience) that can't handle the REV chassis. And you can find a 550F relatively cheap.

10 yrs old....anything bigger then a 500 would be too much. A 500 fan would be even better....teach them to ride then give them power not the other way around.

Sold my kids Mountain cat 570s to Sledgimp They where a great sleds. My youngest loves his Phazer. Look for an M5 great sled and most have low miles. Bear River Lodge is selling all there 2011 Ski Doo 550's for like 2500 each right now yeah they where rentals but usually in good shape

The one thing to think about. Bear Rivers Lodges rental fleet would be a really good choice this year was such a great snow year that the usual rocks, stumps, fence post type damage was not really a concern this season, same with hyfax wear and the typical damage stuff that happens in a low snow year. Just a thought
