Which sled for wife

2008 Summit 600
2008 Renegade 600

Want to get a sled for both trail riding and mountain riding
Wife has fair riding skills and loves to go to the moutains
I currently have a renegade.
I was originally leaning towards the summit, that way I could ride that if I went without my wife
But since the 08 renegade is the new body style I thought the lighter weight might be better.

Which would you choose and why?

Thanks
Charlie

i'm not a skidoo guy but i would take the xp chassis over the rev chassis. i'm also curious why your only considering a 600? its not very much more for the 800 is it?

I have the summit 600 and like it a lot. It depends on your wife. If she's really going to get into sledding and want to mountain ride, you might think about something bigger. The 600 is great, but I want a bigger one. It can't quite pull everything I want to- after riding it less than a year. If she will just ride once in a while and not really get aggressive with riding, then that would be fine. Just remember that she'll have to be able to keep up and ride where you ride. If you're taking her places on a bigger sled and she's on a 600, think about if she can make it or not.

At first I loved the 600, but by spring I was getting frustrated because the guys could all climb into bowls that I couldn't get into. Or once I got in I couldn't climb out and would have to find a way around. If she's going to be an aggressive rider and on it all the time, she might want a bigger sled that she can "grow" into. But the 600 summit is a good sled and does really well for it's size. My boyfriend rides it once in a while, when I take his 800 and it does fine for him. Not as much power of course, but it does well.

I agree with skidoogirl......600 isnt enough. go with something bigger.....More power never gets in the way, however not enough is a pain!
I know ladies who love there xp's so thats all I know that. I ride an M which I love.........

you two ^^ couldnt have said it better, my girl friend loved her 600 for the first year, but now she wants an 800, almost wish we would have just got her an 800 to begin with

Yep, my wife has been riding a 600 for quite some time, now I am getting heat from her to add some HP to her 600 SDI. Looking at moving her to a 800 but I just got done doing a cosmetic make over on her 600 and not to excited about spending the money. At least the plastic can move from one REV to another.

For a mountain sled for her, she'll appreciate the extra torqe that the larger engine provides. It's not a top speed game out here like in the mid-west, or trail riding. Even the smaller motor XP's are easier for a rider to handle because they are subatantially lighter and narrower feeling.

If you just prettied up the old sled, that will add to it's re-sale value and help it sell quicker/easier.

Good Luck.

MD.

I am a Polaris guy. Would you like to read about a Polaris choice?

i bought my wife an 800 summit this year she is by no means aggressive but i want her to build her confidence and be able to keep up when she has to, and be comfortable plus just think of the fun you could have on it.

OK, I will bite what is the polaris secret?

I rode polaris for 15 years and just switched to ski doo a couple of years ago.

Not sure, from my end. Maybe its the lack of customer support when your crank shaft snaps, which Polaris knows about and does not take care of you. Hmm BRP gave us an extended warranty when things went strange in 07.

I would think riding a Polaris for 15 years creates enough experience to determine whether or not to decide getting a Polaris.

Sorry I disturbed your tread.

My apologies.

Don, I think he is asking for your answere. I too am curious.

I just bought my wife a 04 Verticle Escape 800 thats rather built. I know I really hate riding when I dont have enough power. Why would I want to make riding that much harder for her by not making sure she has the power? I say get your wife MORE sled than she can almost handle at this point so that she has room to grow with her skills.

You need to get her an 800 XP. I talked my husband into getting me one and I love it. it is an 08. She'll be just fine with that. Probably won't grow out of it either.
Sincerely, She-Devil

First off,
if you are going to get her a sled, get HER a sled.
Don't look at it as a back up sled for you.
Let her ride each sled and see which one she likes.
If that's not possible, at least let her jump on it a few times to see if it "feels right".
Also, as has been stated.
Get her a sled that is a little over her abilities so she can grow into it. I am not talking a turbo sled or anything, but a 600 isn't going to leave any "grow" room unless you are looking to turbo or BB it.

wife sled

i did the same thing last year. i would have bought the 600 summit if it was in the xp. i went with the 800 146 summit. she loves it but now in the mountians she likes my 154 more. the sled is easy for her to handel and she will like the power if she wants it. go with the 800 08 wont be sorry
