Which reeds, if any? 2004 RMK 600.

I have a 2004 RMK 600, and plan to put some money into it this summer. Currently thinking about putting Vforce3 or Boyesen reeds in (the whole setup, not just the petals). However I have seen some mixed reviews about the reliability of both.

I often ride trails and on the lake I live on, but I am looking for the best performance I can get for when I go on riding trips, in places at an average of 1600-2100ft, but could be between 1000-4000.

Are either of these reed systems worth getting?

What are you trying to accomplish? For $300, you could turn an '04 600 into an '05 700, if performance is your goal.

How exactly would you go about doing this?

I was really just looking for a couple bolt on mods for that little extra bit of power, until I have the money and experience to really dig into the engine.

This is my first year wrenching on sleds so I am completely new to it, and have to teach myself everything for the most part.

It really all depends on how much money I can make over the summer and right now I am just gathering as much knowledge as I can. Before I do anything engine-wise the sled will be getting a WRP Seat, WRP Boards, and a Skidplate.

What I was saying, in unclear terms, I guess, is that for a few dollars more, such as the price you would be paying for reeds, sell your 600 and buy a 700.

This time of year there are a lot of bargains around.
Your 600 in an '04 or newer chassis is a very popular machine, and should sell for $2200. You can find a 2005 700 RMK for $2500.

If you spend the money to buy those parts you mentioned, you won't increase the value of your machine one dime. Save your money and buy a 700, and you have guaranteed to find the additional performance your are looking for.

Boyesen

Boyesen Rad Valves are what I ran in my '03 700. First mod I did. Thery're tough and gave it great throttle response.

I had a 2001 EDGE-X 600 That I ran for 300+ miles and sold it to my bud.

He added the V-Force-2 reeds, ZERO diff!

I ran the V-Force's on my 2002 EDGE-X 800, ZERO DIFFERENCE as well.

I would recommend the following instead:

Installing the HOT SEAT PERFORMANCE head to my 600, NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE ($300.00 +/-)

HOLTZMAN ATAAC, spot on jetting , improved throttle response, better mileage as well ( $ 245)

Don't worry about the 700...your 600 is more responsive, better overall engine design with bigger transfer ports, improved rod/crank, no belt on the water/oil pump. Put a tempaflow/ATTAC on it, clutch it and enjoy.
