Which Oil To Use?

I am sure this has been asked before, but you can't search for three letter words like oil!

The Operator's Manual says to use Ski-Doo Mineral Oil. The dealer says this will cause problems with the VTEC valves so be sure to check and clean them often. One guy at the dealer says to use semi-syn, another says to use full syn.

I have an '07 Summit X with the 800R. What should I be using?

XP Oil

Operators manual lists Synthetic BLEND recommended over FULL Synthetic, why is that? 2008 XP 800R

My Doo dealer said the oil injection is calibrated from the factory for blended. If you use full syn expect to use more oil, he also said there is no spec for resetting the pump for full syn? So why do they sell full syn bit don't have a setting for it?

We did alot of oil testing with a couple riding partners back in 2004 and early 2005. We all rode polaris VES sleds and they were very bad as far as getting the valves gummed up, much worse than any other brand of sled. After all the dust settled the Yamalube 2s was the clear winner for keeping valves clean. (Citgo sea&snow has pretty much the same formula and has the same semi-synthetic additive package.) Long term use of Yamalube 2s and Citgo Sea&Snow has made valve maintenence an annual check intead of a 2-300 mile intense cleaning so they wouldn't end up stuck. I changed out pistons at 7000 miles and they looked great. Rings did have some wear but I have 9800 miles on a stock 800 polaris bottom end and counting. I know this is a ski-doo forum but I had a buddy running a 600 gade sdi and he has switched to citgo sea&snow and no longer fouls plugs and has had two seasons with it so far. I could ramble on here, but the fact is , there are many good oils on the market but they don't all work or smell the same.

I was told they recommend the blend, because the full synthetic does not burn off as completely (as the blend) and thus the full Synthetic caused more plug fouling and gums up the raves more,,, Blend still leaves my raves dirty at the edges of the big valves and around the bottom section of the rod valves,,,
PS, lots of belt dust and string in the reed cages,,, cleaned them tonight too. Well add some nylon over the flange that conncts to the outer airbox.

First year I used Doo semi, last year switched to Shell advance hi perf full syn, not one problem and noticed RAVEs cleaner than Doo semi. It is less smoke and smell oil. The bonus is Canadian Tire puts it on sale once a year $23 4L jug :) from $39. I think I was paying $39 jug for Doo semi.
I bought 5 jugs this year :).
Had the heads off and everything looks very good inside.

Used doo semi for a while then switched to shell mineral then canadain tire motormaster mineral ($14- 4lt jug) I put 5000 Km on my 05 800 summit no problems. Now switch to opti oil for my 07 800r

Dealer told, and sold , me 2 jugs of mineral for break-in, and to help seat the rings. He then suggests amsoil.

I have been using Motorex 2T for the last 3 years and I love it... burns really clean.
The pistons of my 2001 looked GREAT when the crank bearing siezed:p

try it and believe

Three sleds on Blue Marble, no engine problems, no exhaust smell, no residue on the side, nothing on exhaust valves, engines look like new inside looking through plug hole.

Blue Marble then AMSoil them BRP Mineral Oil! Whatever I can get the cheapest! Started running the BRP stuff cause RKT said to use it.
