Will be used in the Snowy Range area mostly on trails. Need 2 person capability majority of the time, so these are the choices (non-touring models have 2 up seats already)

1998 Polaris Indy Touring XLT 600 3800 miles, $1200

1998 Arctic Cat Powder Special 600 unknown mileage $1200

1997 Ski-Doo Grand Touring 500 under 1000 miles $1300

2003 Ski-Doo Summit 600HO 144" rebuilt engine under 100 miles $2000

2005 Polaris Edge Touring 500fan unknown mileage $2500

2000 Polaris Classic Touring 600 2600 miles $2500

If you are looking at a 2 up sled for trail riding I would choose the 97 Skidoo touring 500. 2 up on a single seat sled is no fun for both the operator and passenger. I have found the 500 skidoo motor to have good power and are very dependable. Ran a 97 500 to 9500 miles and a 99 500 to 6500 miles and never touched the motor or the clutches.

Thanks for all the response so far, I was leaning towards the Summit as well. Its in real nice condition. The only thing holding me back is I don't know how great riding 2up on that machine will be.

The 97 Ski-Doo Grand Touring still looks new and is tempting for the price. So I guess the choice would between these two Doos.

Offer $1800 on the Summit and $1200 on the touring and you will have the best of both worlds, a good mountain sled for days you want to ride with the guys without a passenger and the 2 up for days riding together. The total cost would be $500 over the most expensive sled you are looking at. I guarantee you will not be happy ridding 2 up on the summit. Also your partner may find they may want to ride there own sled.

The summit isn't as bad as you would think for two people. Unless the passangers are pretty big. My parents used to double on the 04 600 doo all the time. dad's over 200lbs and mom is almost six feet tall.

I would go with the summit but I don't know how well it will work for 2 up. Riding double sucks, for driver and passenger, on a sled that wasn't designed for it. I think the list you gave is only going to be good for one or the other. You would have to go newer to find a good compromise.
