Which Helmet? Klim? 509?

Have a Thor force and loved it untill i got 509 sinister goggles.
Goggles dont seal as well as my Scott Pro Airs and was really disappointed.
Dont get me wrong the goggles are great. Now just need to get a new helmet.
My vote would be for a Bell Moto 9 or Fly carbon

As far as a 509 helmet being an afx. Its a THH TX-12 remove the liner and look at the part/model #. If that doesn't explain it maybe you should go back to elementary school

My vote is a Shoei VFX. I love it. Not super light but tons of support esp at the base of your skull. I race with a guy that has been using the TLD and loves it. When I race offroad I use full carbon fiber Hebo helmet which are not comfortable at all, but super light and very cool for hot weather.

I have a TLD Se-2.Its pretty comfortable.Probably more comfortable than my Thor force but goggles seem to fog up easier with the TLD.I personally wont buy a helmet that isnt fiberglass/kevlar or even carbon fiber weave. They spread the impact throughout the helmet rather than just point of impact. The cheaper polycarbonite and injection plastic ones dont really do that.

ARAI

only helmet made, have a bout 6 of them sitting around here, street and dirt:D

i live in Klim gear, love it, wont purchase anything else, BUT DO NOOOOT LIKE THE HELMET. :frown:

couldnt agree more. I have $1500 worth of klim gear for me and the wife, but I hated my Klim F4 helmet. Fit was terrible, cold, to short of a chin protection.

There is a reason there is more used Klim F4 helmets for sale then any other helmet.

Another vote for the Fly Carbon/kevlar. It fits nice, and is really light, and the price didn't break the bank. It is also Snell and DOT rated. The ARIA is the cadillac though, if you can afford it.

Had a Fly CF/Kevlar and liked it well enough. Got the Klim F4 and they weigh almost the same. The Klim definately has more features and is adaptable for sledding and summer riding ( bike or atv) I don't have any issues with the fit or sizing. The windstopper liner and breath deflector are nice since they can be easily removed for warm days.

I Have a 509 and I have to say, for the lower end of the price range, its a nice helmet for what you pay.. It may be a cheaper helmet with a new paintjob but all around its the best you will find for the sub $200 price range. Im sure there are lighter helmets out there, just a matter of what you are willing to pay for it. I also use mine with the breathbox and aviator googles and im thoroughly impressed with the fit of all 3 of them together. no snow gets in, easy on and off, and never fogs up unless i keep it on when im digging out. If you wanna save some $$ and still look good and function well 509 is a good bet. thats my 2cents

Every helmet is going to fit differently, which makes sense because our heads are shaped differently. Seriously when it comes to helmet shopping, try it on. I bought a klim F4 and love it, super light and comfortable...FOR ME. Try them on with goggles then buy.
