Which GPS?

I'm looking to get a GPS I can use to mark off spots and associate some notes with the marked spots, also with a topographic map.. Any suggestions?

Ditto on the batteries. I tried using the lithium batteries for digital cameras. Only have one trip on those, so the jury is still out. I like the rhino because everyone I ride with has those or 2 ways, so we can radio if we need, and the locator function has come in handy a time or two.

another vote for the rhino. i use the 120 and it works great for all seasons. battery life could be alot better but just get rechargeable energizer ones and keep an extra set charged all of the time.

Rhino 530! Be sure u get the High sensitivity reciver or you might have gps tracking in the timber or canyons. Rechargable batt is nice too.

Garmin 60CSX Works great can download tracks & routes print them or save them in PC or GPS Mark waypoints, and 4 trips sofar on 1 set of lithium batteries & indicator still says full battery life!

If you are into the topo maps check out the Garmin 400t. Comes preloaded with Topo USA with shaded relief and 3d view. Look at both before you buy because there is no comparison in the quality of the maps. I also tried out a Magellan Triton 2000 with the USGS National Geographic maps and the maps were sweet. However, they are having alot of problems with the Triton series but once they have it figured out they should be a sweet line. Best bang for your buck would be the 60scx but like I said look at both first because the 400t is worth the extra $$ IMO.

I had the rino 120 and put it through hell and back. I just upgraded to the 520hcx. It has everything the 530 has except the electronic compass and the weather thingy and the batteries last longer then the 530.

brahm, pretty much any Garmin, Legend Cx or above will do what you're looking for. The rhino's are really nice as they have the built-in FRS radios. But my Legend C will do pretty much everything you're looking for. Just depends on how many bells and whistles you want! :)
