Which Can? BMP, HPS, Skinz, MBRP?

Looking at getting a can for my Pro. My buddy got the Super Q, and I was surprised at how quiet it was while you were on it. It made some noise when you head the sled buzzing around with somebody else riding it, but pretty quite while you were riding it. I'm afraid the BMP is too loud..? I heard the MBRP is much quieter on the Pro as they have been on previous models-M8, loud as heck! I'm not in to spending $300 plus dollars either.

Oh, and by the way, don't school me on loud cans closing riding areas. Not up for discussion on this one. Purely a discussion on which can. Videos would be great!

I am going to get a HPS can this summer for my 2012 Pro. Its one of the more expensive cans at $330 but from the research I have done it sounds like this is one of the better cans performance wise. Plus it does sound good too.

I'm a fan of the SPG cans...Which are in stock at WPS .... They are super high quality units that have the best sounding exhaust note in my opinion.

The HPS cans are of equal quality IMO, but have a louder sound.

You will find that preference of silencer is like preference of colors of a car...Lots of different opinions.

Good luck

I have the HPS can on both of our Pros they are quieter on the 2011s than on my 2010 ilove the sound and it makes the sled a little more snappy. Check out the video on pro hps review on u tube

Not to pick a bone...but the SPG can is not in stock at WPS. Yes, some of us dealers have been recieving them from WPS here and there, to this date I have only recieved 5 Skinz super-Q cans for the Pro this year, and I currently have 8 or 9 on backorder.

SPG is doing everything they can to meet the demand though I am sure.

I have heard both cans, the Skinz is a little quieter than the HPS, not quite as light though. They both sound great.

I have the HPS on mine and I love it....zero performance loss....and it sounds great!!

I'm currently testing a can on the PRO for HPS. I don't have conclusive performance results to report but 100% the sound is not even remotely a problem. We are running video cameras (2 one on the hood and one on the rider) with sound for our tests. Both stock and HPS equipped 2011 PRO sleds running in the exact same environment. The stock can has a higher pitch at 7,000 to 8,150 which after running the HPS kind of bothers me. It is clear and conclusive that heads up at full RPM the HPS is not causing a sound issue in relationship to the stocker.

So far I like the can for it's obvious weight deduction, slightly higher decible but lower growl at low RPM's ranges, lower and less offensive high RPM pitch with slightly higher decible reports.

Once again I will not comment on performance until I have conclusive results. Let's just suffice it to say that right now I'm not even remotely interested in going back to the stock can!

Eventually the performance tests will be made public for the masses and you'll get heads up video in the comparisons as well.

This is a great thread so lets keep the posts going! I am definetly interested to seeing if there are is a gain or loss of power with the cans on the new pros. Obviously there is a weight savings so with any power increases it will be a win win.

I just hope some one makes a can that doesnt lose power like on the D8's since the exhaust pressure was so sensitive. I will be waiting anxiously on F-Bombs reports. It is interesting what we all look for in a can when considering a can like weight, sound, quietness, loudness, braaap, quality fitment, power increases.

I would be interested in a can as long as its not so loud I have to wear hearing protection.

I had an MBRP on my M8 and if I didn't wear earplugs it felt like someone shoving a screwdriver into my ear!!!

Read all the earlier posts on can's. Called Scott at HPS and left a message and also sent him an email late one night. He called me back that night. His son put it on for me the next morning before a ride and tested it by his shop. It was like it came with an easy button.
Couldn't tell you in definite numbers but suffice it to say I had to add a little weight to the clutch. It is a little louder but has a great sound that everyone seems to like rather than be offended by. I won't be going back to the stock can either. Thanks again Scott. Nice job

Rob and Daniel,

It is good to hear reports on the HPS can... they are quality is high on construction..and it sounds like they have changed from the higher noise levels I've seen from them in the recent past.

EDIT: HPS has their cans in stock and WPS has the SPG in both SQ and UQ models in stock as of 4:00 on WED at the Boise location.

Here is a pic of the SPG and HPS silencers from a couple of my earlier posts.

Ran the SLP silencer this weekend on my Pro RMK. Great sound and no performance lost. I believe it only gives you a weight loss of 2 pounds.

i purchased hte HPS can and i love it. It is NOT much louder than stock at WOT, but alot louder at idel and it sounds sick. When you roll off a jump or do a drop, the eco it makes in the air is by far the best out of any sled/can combo i have ever been on.

I heard the Jaws can for the 10 M8's were losing 5 horsepower from stock... But that thing sounds sweet!
