Which brand grease????

With pre-season maintenance among us, I was just wondering what everyone is using for synthetic grease in their sled suspension???

Redline, Mobil 1, Amsoil ........???????
 
We use nothing but redline on everything done in shop. I used to send all rear suspension parts out pre lubed with it until I had a couple guys that thought something else was better. Nothing wrong with a difference in opinion after all that's what makes the world go round. Now everything that goes out is dry so your free to lube with what you chose but again I really like the way the redline has worked and would use nothing else. Proof is at the end of the season when you take things apart to do an inspection, sometimes you wonder why you went to the trouble. It doesn't seem to be affected by the colder temps like others. Jmo

I am thinking regardless of brand you should use a waterproof grease because if moisture mixes in with the grease you are more likely to experience freeze-up in really cold temps.
 
Most marine grades seem to be better than non but I just don't think it works as well in "extreme" cold.
 
All grease is good as long as it STAYS where you put it. The biggest fault with grease is it gets "pound out" High pressures and impacts cause grease to work away from the area where it NEEDS to be.

The only grease I will use in our heavy equipment is Amsoils purpose made to prevent pound out.

I have a testing machine that you put a smear of grease on it then strike the anvil to see how much grease is left on the contact area after impact. I have yet to see another grease that can keep as much on the testing avil as Amsoil.

 
Okay, so I want to try out some Redline grease, but I checked around locally and no one carries it. Anyone on hear a dealer or know a dealer ???????

Redline CV-2...if you cant get it at your local NAPA store... Amazon, Ebay both have it with cheap shipping.

I've used the Mobil-1 syth grease with good luck too.

In a suspension... if the grease gets stiff when cold... it will hamper the action of the suspension.

Too high of viscosity (thick) grease will hamper the suspension action... too low (thin) grease will extrude out of the mechanism quickly.

Grease has to be appropriate in viscosity for the application (in addition to many other properties)

Most of the stock suspensions are pretty primitive in regards to movement/lubrication... the shafts run inside of a tube with no bushings with LOTS of surface contact area

Blue boat trailer grease... too thick.
If you have it already in your skid...pull the skid...disassemble and re-grease.

If you can put a tube of grease in your freezer and it gets noticeably stiff... then you should find another grease.

In the polaris suspensions... you should be taking the skid apart yearly cleaning all the aluminum "muck" out of the tubes and off the shafts... grease upon assembly... pump it with grease after being assembled....bounce on the sled a bit... and re grease.

Grease regularly throughout the season for proper suspension operation.

My 2 cents... and there's a lot more cents out there too.

Mystic Hi-temp red. It's what's for dinner. Haven't had a wheel bearing go out since we started using it on the farm. My $.02.
 
mobile 1 is readily available for me and sometimes mystic at cal ranch. have not had a problem with either.
 
I use mystik low temp in sleds. Seems to work quite well especially with Temps hit below zero.
 
Any are good as long as they are blended with wombat semen.
Wombat semen gives it elasticity, water resistance, and does not leave a foul aftertaste.
