Which belt for 900?

Dealer is trying to sell me a 321 1122 for my 2006 SB900. I thought it was supposed to be a 111 or a 115? Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

They are similar belts, same materials, different method final cut.

IMO... On the 900's ONLY run the 115 belt... blown belts can mean catastrophic crank failure.

Also VERY IMPORTANT... The clutch will need to be shimmed for the 3211115/122 belt... The clutch was originaly shimmed for the 080 belt which is a different width.

I highly suggest getting the clutch balanced and blueprinted...

Have a look at this thread to see what I mean... well worth the 3 minute read... your clutch/belt is THE link from your motor to your sled.

What clutch setup are you running??? (Weights, primary/secondary spring, helix, gearing)
Not having the right clutch setup is hard on the crank, clutch, and motormounts... much less, sub-par performance.

The sled is literally brand new, so stock everything with the exception of SLP Hot air eliminators.

I was thinking about getting a new belt for my 2005 RMK 900. When I look up the OEM belt for both the RMK and the SB for both 05 and 06, Polaris lists the 3211115 belt as stock. How would I know if my clutch has been shimmed and why is Polaris selling this belt as stock if you need to modify the clutch for it to work? I am confused here. With all of the crank problems mentioned on this forum I just want to make sure I have the best chances at avoiding a broken crank by installing the best belt. A little help please. :face-icon-small-hap

Polaris now only specs this belt.

Read RON's post on P-85 clutches (his user name is "RON") and you will see how to check side clearance.

Anyway you look at it, I would not run anything BUT the 3211115 belt in the 900's

Your sled is out of warranty.... If it was "IN" the dealer would have to do it for you.

You will have to get the clutch shimmed to run this belt.

IMO...Send your clutch to Indy Specilaties... make sure it it top notch, all bushings are checked/replaced, balanced and faces on the clutch cleaned up.

Pretty easy to do and LOTS of peace of mind besides a smoother running sled.

900 belt

Thanks Mountainhorse! I now know more about belts than I ever wanted to. I have done all the research myself and found that Polaris supplied all original owners of the 900's with a new 3211115 belt free of charge through the dealer where each sled was purchased. I looked through my spare stuff I got from the original owner last spring when I bought my 900 with 907 miles on it and sure enough there was a used 3211115 belt. What I don't know is if the clutch was ever shimmed but per your suggection I read Ron's post and I am all set to spend the day in my shop tomorrow checking it all out (it will be worth the scowll from the wife for being down in my shop all day). If it hasn't been shimmed then I guess I will have it done locally or send it to the guy for blueprint. I am not worried about the cost and know you get what you pay for but snow is coming!! I don't know where on the west coast you live but I live just 45 minutes from Truckee CA where they are expecting snow tomorrow. Anyway, thanks for the help!

Partly true... there was a "one time" only deal for original owners at the dealers discretion... nothing official from Polaris... all "New old stock" 900s/755's were to updated before they left the dealers.

Bill, Richie/Charlie can shim it... but, IMO... send it out for the full meal-deal on the clutch... you'll notice the difference.

Turnaround time is about a week... so get it in. You wont be disappointed:face-icon-small-win

Don't be in too big of a hurry to find the stumps at Cisco or LTS my friend.... get your sled sorted and wait for some base IMO.

Anyone know what Indy Specialties charges to Balance and check the primary?

3211115 belt

I ended up getting one from a guy on line for $140 shipped to my door. It was still in the original Polaris packaging and brand new! I washed it, cleaned up the clutch compartment and sheaves and installed it. I put the reccomended 30 miles for break in on the new belt last Friday.
