Trying to figure out which ABS to get. I currently use a HMK pack which I really like it fits good and carries everything I need. I'm not a small guy 270#s 6ft and I wear a tek vest so I want to make sure its going to fit also. Thanks for any info that would help.

Which pack???

If you carry a bunch of stuff in you pack then I would suggest that you get the espape 15 for the smallest size or maybe the 30. I always tell customers that the free ride is really only good if you plan to carry your shovel and probe in your pack. It's a great pack, but not if you want to carry stuff.

I just got the Vario 30 and wear a tek vest. Fit's just fine. Lots of storage. I carry the usual avalanche and survival stuff plus water, lunch, extra gloves, fleece etc. If the pack is not full you can just cinch down the straps to ensure things don't bounce around.

pack

im 5.8 1800lbs i had the escape 30 great pack just a touch big, i could carry to much, i have gone to 22lt vario, i would say the vario 30 seams to carrie the wieght of the pack closer to your body that the escap 30 i doo like the way the escape 30 opens, you can lay it down and open the whole pack up, if you lunch is in there or thereis things you need out, on the vario it only open half way down the rest you have to reach in. but i think with your size you could put your stuffin a 22lt or larger, cant go wrong

abs

i think the big advange is the track record of the abs i hope the snowpulse can have the same, i am waiting to see how it works out, if im going to investe the money i would like it with a track record
good luck

I'd go Snowpulse if I were you. As far as I can tell the only thing the ABS has over Snowpulse is the price.

Yeah if them distruibutors in NA had them in stock right now, the Snowpulses could be something else to consider, but unfortunately, the only options now is the ABS.

iv been wearing an escape 15 all season and like it alot. you can get enough stuff in it without feeling weighed down.

oh and by the way im 235 with a pretty big chest and wear a tek vest under it. works great

I'm only 150lbs and ride with the 30L ABS. I don't mind the size of the pack and I have a bad back also. It is nice to have tons of room for extra gloves, goggles, knife, saw, and my extra layers. I also keep extra snacks in it just in case.

Haven't quite decided which one to go with sure wish I had someplace close were i could go look at them.

I bought mine sight unseen. My thought process was that I would rather have too much space than not enough. Got the 30 L vario. Can carry enough gear if you are (or are not) planning an overnighter. If I find it's simply too big (which I don't think I will) I'll just order the 22 L next year. That's the nice thing about the vario.....options on what size pack you want to add to the base unit. A guy can never have too many toys...right? For your size, get the 22 or 30 Litre would be my suggestion. You won't regret either.

I purchased an escape 30 this year and love it. i am 6"7 weigh 255lbs and it fits good. they also have the years of experience on their side, which i like. run the escape 30 you will not be dissapointed.

I have heard rumor of BCA coming out with a new pack for 09-10 season
$600 maby less!!

I heard the same from a Polaris dealer. Mike Duffy the Avy instuctur would know as I think he works for BCS...

abs all the way. i love the way mine fits. we have a bud that has the snow pulse. it's big and bulky hangs to your ***. one of the latest avy vics had the snow pulse and it was poped when he was found died of trauma. that whats nice about abs 2 bags incase one should pop
