Where is a good reasonable place to stay here where we would not have to trailer to the trail heads. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We are not married to Dubois if something close to there is going to be better, will be coming from the south east.

Thanks

if you stay IN TOWN you will have to trailer to ride. and yes to stay at the stagecoach you have to trailer to ride. they have great pizza accross the street. ski

You can't beat the hospitality at the Sawmill. I was there last week and the people working there were tops!! You can ride right from there also.

we stay at the super 8. very resonable rates and theres a place to eat next door. plus its next to the polaris and i think arctic cat dealership.

Ok, guys thanks for the suggestions and keep em coming. A couple questions tho, can We ride out of the super 8, this ride from the room is very important as we will only have a 4 place trailer but 5 riders as one will be renting out there.

Also is it worth the almost 2 hour extra drive to go to Dubois versus just stopping at Lander and unloading and staying there?

Thanks again

You cannot ride from any place in Dubois.

Line Shack
Sawmill &
Crooked Creek
are all just outside of town up the hill.

Line Shack & Crooked creek both offer rentals also.

All 3 have food & cocktails & just a short drive from each other so the nightlife is fun too.

Personally there is better snow in the Dubois area.

Another option is Lava Mountain Lodge. http://www.lavamountainlodge.com/ You can ride out of there and catch either the X or the CD trails. Though they may be rough the snow is easier to access.

The Union Pass area tends to have less snow.

Just my opinion!

You should check with Line Shack to see if they are open ,or what the status is.
3 days ago I had a conversation with a tour operator who said he had heard the Line Shack had put the place up for sale and fired the manager. I don't know if it's true or not.

I do know for certain that Goose Wing, and Hatchet are both closed for the winter. Too bad, cause those places made nice intermediate stops during the day.

Crooked Creek and the Sawmill are both nice places. Was at the Line Shack a few years ago and was treated really bad. Quoted 1 price and charged another. Because of it we don't go into the Wind Rivers at all. If we were to go back we would stay at th Sawmill, but we haven't been back after that screwing. Lots of nice places to ride, no point in taking a chance on being treated badly.

Lava Mountain Lodge

The lodge is located just 18 miles west of Dubois and 20 miles east of Togwotee Mountain Lodge. They are right off of the CD trail on the PB. So you don't have to trailer your sleds. There is a gas station, general store with snowmobile belts, plugs, etc, restaurant, bar and liquor store. They have lodge rooms, a group cabin, and new rustic cabins that sleep 4. Very helpful staff if your having sled issues. Friendly and clean. Check out their website for more info www.lavamountainlodge.com
