Hey guys/gals...

Looking to go riding around the Dubois area this year. Where is a good place to stay with pretty good access to riding areas and such? We don't mind trailering each day to the unload spot...just would like it to not be over 30 miles or so:)

Thanks for all input!!

If you stay in town, I like the Stagecoach Motel. It is right downtown; 100 feet from a nice little restaurant with decent prices and great food. Two bars within a block. The owners are nice; rooms clean and well kept; and rates are reasonable. You can trailer the sleds to Union Pass (about 5 miles of steep gravel off the highway..about 20 minutes from the hotel). The folks at the Line Shack have always let me leave the trailer there overnight. Or you can trailer north about 15 miles to a parking area that meets the CD.

I have stayed up on Union Pass at both the Line Shack and Sawmill. The folks are nice. But it is more expensive. I also rented a privately owned cabin on Union Pass last year. It was a great cabin. Only problem with it was the gravel road had no snow (mid march) so we had to leave the sleds at the line shack and drive a mile. There are a fair number of private cabins for rent on the pass and for large groups, that may be the way to go.

I have also stayed at Lava Mountain Lodge, about 20 miles north of Dubois. Nice folks, decent rooms and a bar/restaurant with gas. Only trouble is the access to the CD from there is not always in the best shape grooming wise.

I really enjoy the area. If you go farther north, you wind up at Tog. The Union Pass area is not as deep as Tog, but the area is huge and not as crowded as Tog. I've always been able to find fresh powder to play in.

Hope this helps.

we usually stay at the super 8. real nice place and pretty resonable in price with a short drive to the pass

stayed at The Lineshack every year for six years and will be there again this year. never had a problem with gas, food, or gettin beer at the bar after ridin. the manager Mike is a good guy. Have always seemed to be real helpful and pretty generous with gettin sleds into their shop if need be. right on the trail

Home for rent in Union Pass

We have a home in Union Pass for rent, 3 bedroom, 2 baths, TV, phone, Modern kitchen, etc.
Only a block away from CD trail.

Thanks alot guys!!

I think it's just going to be me and another guy, so we are looking for something relatively small and cheap...no need to rent a huge house for the two of us:)

Thanks again!!

Motel 8.
It's on the way out of town so you don't have any traffic problems (like there are any traffic problems anyway), it's got a decent restraunt next door and it's a block from a gas station.
Closest parking lot is only 10-15 minutes away.

If you stay in town, check out the super 8. Good prices. Also, if you want to trailer up, i would recommend either the Brooks Lake Parking area, which is about 20 miles from town. Or just drive up to togwotee where they have everything that you need. Gas, resturant, ect... Which is about 30 miles. Great riding from both places.

Same here. Personally I wouldn't stay in town and trailer up every morning for the price of a room at the Lineshack. Also you get a free breakfast buffet every morning for free! Great riding right from the lodge. The first year we stayed there you didn't have to go more than a couple miles to get stuck. (all depends on the snow conditions of course)
