Leaving for the Snowies tomorrow. Been to Togwotee alot but first time riding in the Snowies. Need some tips on where to ride. Gonna stay in Laramie and trailer up every day. Any help would be appreciated!

First off your timing is awesome!! winter has finally arrived!

If you are going to be riding for a few days i would suggest burning up the trails as much as possible the first day to try and get a feel for the terrain, adjust to the elevation, and scope out the spots you want to dive into.

My favorite areas are on the north west side, around N trail and X trail.

Coming from southern Minnesota on Saturday. Been to the Big Horns and Tetons. Will be the first time for us at the Snowies too. Staying at Albany. Might see ya there and be green together!!

Watch out for snow squalls on the high trails such as O and NO. If you see one coming get your asrse in the trees asap. If you start out at albany you will not have a problem unless you cross libby flats.

keep checking road conditions, we are at albany right now and it has been blowin all day, supposed to be worse tomorrow, hope to get out of here friday morning.

Just a guess, but you probably won't get past Cheyenne tomorrow. I80's been closed all day clear to Rawlins, tomorrow actually looks worse! Visibility here at the house at the very best today has been 'bout 100 yards. If it's snowing as hard on the mountain as I think it is, it could be great anywhere you go. A word of caution though, I'm guessing avy conditions are gonna be high, considering how high the winds are. Be careful!

I would suggest getting a guide, At least for one day ($ well spent).or finding a local to show you around.

3c guiding, Snowy range tours or Albany lodge.

You can come in from the south on HWY 287 from Ft Collins. Its not going to be the most fun drive you've ever had. The winds are expected to reach 80+ mph before the weekend arrives. Take your time and make sure you have good tires!!

:nono: Im not real sure about that Dan!! The interstate is going on 48 hours of closure time.:closed_2: Im thinking most of the people in the area now will be here for a day or two and the people stuck outside the circle will be waiting for a day or two.

:tea: Ill have a beer with ya just for the heck of it tho!!
