where to ride if you live in pendleton

If you head north on Hwy 11 and then East on Hwy 224 at the little town of Weston you can ride in the Tollgate area. Andres Prairie (?sp) Sno-Park is a good starting point.

And then you can drive a bit farther to Union and ride out of Catherine Creek or exit there at Ladd Canyon and ride up towards Anthony Lake or just go to Anthony Lake. Up at Tollgate there's Andres Prairie (you had it right there reed4rmk), woodland, and the most poplar one Morning creek, you go there, get there early! If there is enough snow you can unload there at the Summit of the Blues, take exit 243 turn left and go about 4-5 miles to the small sno-park there, problem is not maintain very well.

there are tons of places to go from pendleton yes if you want to fight the crowd go to tollgate catherine creek is good riding and not alot of people.also there up out of ukiah and also olive lake area. and also out of heppner isnt very far at all to unload at cutsforth park. and also if your up to it u can hit halfway thats the best.

Once you get a mile away from the parking lots, the Tollgate area never seems busy to me. We can ride for better than half an hour without seeing anyone frequently.

ya some what true but the people are there and for people that dont know the shortcuts or cross country routs they get to battle the 5 foot moguls on the trail to head back to the trailer. im just saying theres way better areas close enough to pendleton that you dont need the ever popular tollgate.

thanks guys, but i heard that halfway was awesome. It is always great to talk to the helpful people here on snowest, even if you are trying to hide some of the good spots

Joking

Ok I was just teasin.... Halfway is good just a little sarcasim there. But there is no teasin or sarcasim about Tollgate. Been there once and will be perfectly happy never returning there ever again. My spleen is still recovering from some of those so called "back routes" Not to mention the ding dongs comming around the corner on MY side of the trail the entire day...

if you want to ride the tollgate area out around 7 meadows and play on those climbs and boondock out there i would always go all the way into elgin and drive towards the fish hatchery past the old merts store and unload on the 62 road no snow park just drive as far as you can and unload very very few people that way. and if the snow is good enough you can ride all the way to troy and lots of play areas along the way.

your first time out in any of those areas try to find someone that at least , knows their way around a bit to avoid a lot of the congestion, a lot of riding even at Tolgate area, with out getting much of a pounding, but then again it took me 20 yrs to find my way around
