Where to plan my vacation in canada for next season

I am trying to plan a vacation to go riding out west for next season. I am pretty much a flatlander and I wanted to go out west. I am from MA so its pretty flat here. I have always wanted to go to revelstoke so I was wondering if someone could help me out. Where is a good place to stay at. I would need to rent sleds and a tour guide too. Is there any places that have packages or anything. I have been searching but I feel like im shooting in the dark here. Any help would be appreciated thanks Dan

hey bud, you can't go wrong with revy, check with revy snowmobile club, lots of rentals, good motels, good food , great sledding. lots of areas to go to, Golden, Sicamous, New Denver, Fernie etc. Get on the bc snowmobile federation web site, lots of info. You may end up staying, in fact they are still sledding at this time.
You definitely won't go wrong, Oh get avy gear and training if you can. Have fun. yeah turn on the lights and hit something.

:beer;

in revy, check out glacier house---they have rooms, rentals, guides, then whole can of worms!!!

http://www.glacierhouse.com/

i've stayed there about a dozen times!! great rooms, right at the bottom of the 2 main hills, you ride right from your room/cabin!!!!

Whistler and Revy are both Awesome. Before you book a guide I would come on here and hook up with some Snowesters just before the trip. There are alot of very nice and very knowledgable people that really know areas, on here and most of them would show you around for nothing. I'm not bashing the guides but it might add alot of expence to the trip when there might be Snowesters that can take you around. Dan

just be ready for a little price difference, fuel 6 bucks by then most likely and a exchange rate in there favor, which means your going to spend big bucks

I think you hit the nail on the head here.

If you just have to ride in "BC" then go for it.

But it will cost ya. Like Graveler said with the rate even (US/CAD) and probably the US even farther behind by next season it will be just to expensive to travel north. Everything cost more. $15cad for a burger and fries is a bit steep IMO.

There are a lot of great places to ride in the western US also.

But if you must go, do it. You really need to be honest with the guys/guide on your riding skills. It's pretty easy to get in over your head.

I believe an average rider can have a pretty good time in Revy, just stick to the main trails. But in most of the other areas if you aren't a pretty good mountain rider you will be in over your head. And will spoil your trip.

Mehhh......

Do it - as stated Revy or Whistler - you will have the time of your life. Save up and spend the cash, c'mon up and have a great time. 10 years from now it will be double what you will spend next year (and you will regret not doing it sooner), so do it now and enjoy it! You won't ever forget the experience.....

Who cares about how much it costs for a once in a lifetime experience? Spend it while you're alive, becuz you can't spend it when you're dead.....

To be entirely honest with you guys I am 20 years old I make like 50,000 a year and I am seriously contemplating moving out west in a year or so. I just wanted to make a trip out and see how much I love it. I have wanted to go to BC since I was like 12 years old. I do heating and air conditiong is there jobs out there that pay well doing that. How much is rent out there. I figure if I save 20,000 that should get me started till I find a job.

Well I have a slightly different idea than going to Revy or Whistler, both of which are sweet places don't get me wrong. Here goes, a friend of mine runs a guiding/touring operation out of Valemount, B.C. and offers a trip kinda like what your looking for, just bring yourself, everything else is provided (sleds, gear, accommodation etc etc). Check it out here and tell him Lucas sent ya:)

As far as work goes, you'll probably find more job opportunities in the refrigeration business in Alberta than B.C. but I could be wrong, tradesmen are in demand everywhere...
