If you folks had your druthers, where would you choose to live in the lower 48 for the best mountain riding? Only requirement is an airport with airline service not too far.

Curious as to what people think....

I do like JH. Pretty pricey. We fly into JH and I love that approach right by the Tetons. How much of the area around JH is wilderness area?

We have all kinds of great riding right here along the Wasatch front and Salt Lake City internatioal airport is close.

I have live here for ten years and love to ride. I have not even scatched the surface of all the great riding areas.

This area seems to have a great balance of outdoor activity, city stuff and shopping for my wife. We love it here.

We happen to live in Layton Utah and love it.

I used to live in Layton Utah myself and was planning a vote for there. Wish I was there right now, but oh well. But my western riding experience is limited compared to others of course being originally from MN.

Thats funny coming from a person from Bend. I used to LOVE Bend until it got over-ran by Californians and yuppies (and ****in round a bouts);)

We do get our share of Californians moving here, thats for sure but at least they are the english speaking ones! The housing and job market is helping keep them away now anyway. Any area with recreation opportunities will attract yuppies. Luckily both are wussy's and stay at home when the snow is good because it's always windy as hell when it is.

I personally really like the roundabouts, stop signs and lights suck but I could see the roundabouts being challenging for someone from washington!!!:eek::beer;

If you do not mind using a trailer, Bozeman rocks. Decent riding 10 minutes from downtown. Great riding about 45 minutes, and gets better when you get to about an hour. Then there is West Yellowstone/Island Park bout an hour and a half. Cooke city is a couple hours away and the Big Horns which are great for tuning the sled in October/November and spring rides are about 3 hours away. Basically, the snow hits one of those areas no matter what, so you can always have fresh deep snow if you know how to research where to go.

But...I would rather live in a place you can snowmobile from the house. I know NW Montana has a few places like that, not exactly sure where, but around Kalispell area.

Just my .02. Stay away from Bozeman though, I like riding there too much. hehe
