good info. i am interested in your product because i sell both shorai and ballistic at a retail level. When you speak of different grades in cells, do you know what grades the shorai and ballistic use? It seems of the batteries i have sold, they seem to be kinda finiky compared to an agm and is that because of cell quality? awesome idea and i aplaude your company driving the market segment. i too would like some pricing information.

I have to be careful how I answer this question. I do not want to bash any specific brands. However, your question is relevant to the topic and I'll speak in general terms.

"they seem kinda finicky compared to an agm and is that because of cell quality"

The short answer is yes.

The long answer is something I touched on in my original post-- so called "battery companies". Many "battery companies" are simply re-sellers of Chinese made battery products. What ends up happening is that the Chinese battery producers often times buy "drops(rejects)", or "B" or "C" grade cells. Then they build a battery and then sell it to the "battery companies" who then wholesale to a dealer like yourself. The hard part for a dealer like yourself is that you are expected to stand behind the product that you sell and you have no control over the quality. The "battery company" that you might buy from has no direct control over quality either. As is often the case, the Chinese manufacturers will build high quality (expensive) samples for the "battery company" to evaluate and then when the "battery company" orders batteries, the batteries they receive have lower quality cells in them. The construction looks the same, because it is, but the cell quality-- and therefore performance-- can vary greatly. Some work as advertised, others are nothing more than paper weights.

What Speedcell does. We receive lithium cells from our suppliers, in the case of powersports applications these are military grade A123 cells. This is all done in Las Cruces, NM. We test the individual cells for quality and performance before we assemble them in batteries. The reason we do this is simple. In our military applications, lives depend on the performance of our product. In our racing applications, teams spend millions of dollars per year to win and we do not want to let them down. ALL our batteries are built the same way-- regardless of end user-- military, professional race team, or average consumer.
