Where is there snow in the West?

Gentlemen,

I have a vacation coming up first week of February and a buddy and I were planning on going to Island Park this year. I've been looking around and it seems nobody is getting any snowfall this season, one of the driest on record. I'm looking for suggestions on where to find some steep and deep? We're both skilled riders with quality mountain sleds. Thanks in advance.

Where is it you are looking to go? Great snow over most of the northern colo riding areas right now and several WY and Idaho locations are great as well.

We were planning on going to Island Park.

1. Where exactly is Rabbit Ears, CO? What part of the state?

2. What parts of Idaho are getting coverage?

BTW-We're driving from Western Nevada.

They have snow (pic is not current!!) RE is north central Colo. Near steamboat and kremmling. Great snow there now. Daniels Summit/Strawberry Reservoir in Utah appears to be OK and I believe that I saw a Uinta Update last night showing some decent snow near Square Top.

Not sure that anywhere in SE Idaho has real good snow for this time of year. Don't know about central/north. All I can tell you is that my buddies who live in SE Idaho, born and raised, and know where to ride, are very discouraged so far.

Revelstoke BC best riding on the planet just 16.5 hours north of Salt Lake City, Golden BC 15 hours from SLC, Fernie BC 13 hours from SLC. All 3 have deep deep snow.

I dont know what information your reading or hearing but for some parts of the country it is very dry but in the intermountain west it is actualy doing pretty well with some ranges well above average. If you look at this site you can get an idea of how some ranges in Wyoming, Colorado and Montana are doing above average. This winter seems to be pretty choosey about who gets snow but there are some snotel depths approaching 100". Seems like Western Wyoming, Bighorns, SE Wyoming, Northern/Central Colorado, SW and Northern Montana are all doing pretty well. I understand that this is moisture in the snow but typically relates to some good depth and good riding. Just sounds like you might have to drive a ways.

We had great snow in the north until all this damn wind and warm weather started melting it all. I am looking at revy or sicamous now.

I rode Fernie yesterday, places called Pipeline, Rolling Hills. A good base and good snow in lots of places but no fresh for 6 days and none in the forecast so we are getting depressed and praying hard here too.

Unfortunately, as we all know...a lot can change within a few days. Even though sh*tty now (and while I don't hit "I P" it is close) and has ben sh*tty; could be epic by the time your trip rolls around.

I sure feel fortunate to live down the rode from riding and not have to plan a vaca and hope for the best.
