Where is the cheapest place for gear?

So some of you guys want me to go in and spend $150 on a kids coat that they will grow out of in a year. Our local dealer jacks the price up and then in Febuary after they can't sell it they cut the price a third when it doesn't do us any good. This guy just wanted a good product for a good price. I don't need the latest and greatest widget at the top of the priceline. I support my local dealer as far as the dollar goes but I'm not going to send their kids to college and mine stay home. You stay in your comfort zone and do the best you can. Catdeals supports Snowest and Snowest is how we are here. Hell yah support your local dealer but keep a hand on your wallet.

143777, I wouldn't say the local dealer jacks the price up (not in most cases), they just have to put more money in the bank to pay the bills. The internet guy sits in his underwear and stocks little or nothing and has no overhead.

Klim is a perfect example of this. There are so many people selling their products on the internet that most dealers won't sell it. The Klim reps are always pushing their stuff on the dealers but it just isn't worth carrying. What's worse is when a customer has the nerve to get bent out of shape because the dealer won't swap them for a different size because they ordered the wrong one online. I like to say, "If you buy the wrong size underwear at Wal-Mart, you don't try to return them at Shopko."

I have probably order 10 thing online (never clothing) in my life and 8 of those 10 times something got screwed up, so I don't bother anymore, it's not worth the hassle.

Are most people posting on this thread American? Try going to your local dealer here in Canada, what a rip. I buy most of my gear and accessories on line or on e-bay, never had any problems and saved on average 30%, even with shipping charges. It's my money and the local dealer only gets mine when I can't get stuff somewhere else!!! I even bought my trailer and last 2 sled in the USA on the internet.

With the strength of the Canadian dollar I would think the gear prices would be a lot more comperable, even though they still aren't on the sleds, but that's a whole different argument.
