i have been to the snowies,that was awesome-would go again
are group is going to island park jan 1st for the week, i have never been out there yet, what should we expect?

Love the steep and deep which one has the best? Which one is the best for a family trip? Which one is the best for seeing the most country? We are going to take a trip this winter. Ive been to twin lakes in Wisdom MT. and Lolo, But it is time for a change! Our group needs something new!! What about the big piney side of the wyoming range?

Suitcase, it really depends on what your family can do before any suggestions are made. I am sure that all of the places listed can have good and bad spots for your family. I suggest that you go to Montana or deep into Wyoming so that you are not mad at me for not leaving any fresh snow for you to play in.

For the family trip just some good riding for everyone, so no one is board. As for the guys threr is 5 or 6 of use that go to the big hole in MT. every other year. We don't want any trail riden. It Just the guys go we thinken cooke city. If the girls go then we are thinken Afton so they can go to jackson and the guys go to the mountians, but either place is new and will take some research know where to go to get away from the main stream. Just looken for some idea's. I understand no one likes to give the good rideing spots up to some out of twon guys. The way we ride we would find something suitable I'm sure. We would have many days to wonder around. Might not get the the best spots but I would find my way into some good riden.
Go to Togotwee, easy trial system, with extreme stuff right next to the trail. You can drive over to Jackson in 30 mins.
If you want steep and deep, Cooke Is the best. If you want some less crowds I would go deep into Lionshead all the way back to Sheep Mtn(West Yellowstone or Island Park can access this place). It seems to me the crowds don't venture that far into this place. JMO
I live in Nebraska and can verify the riding is great, BUT, if you're looking for the ultimate riding area it's hard to beat Iowa, with Kansas coming in a close second.

Thats a very irrresponsible suggestion for a guy with a wife and family looking for a fun trip. Lionshead is very extreme, lots of deep canyons, off canter riding and is one of the most Avalanche prone areas in the West. ESPECIALLY back into Sheep mtn!
